Assassin's Creed Valhalla Info

Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla confirmed for November 10th

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla finally has a release date — Ubisoft has just confirmed that Valhalla will be sailing onto both Xbox One and Xbox Series X on November 10th, making it one of the first confirmed launch titles for the Series X/S. Ubisoft added that Watch Dogs: Legion would also be a Series X/S launch title.

“We are excited to announce that players will be able to discover Assassin’s Creed Valhalla sooner than expected!" says Valhalla’s producer, Julien Laferrière. "We cannot wait to see the world we’ve been creating over the past three years coming to life on all platforms, including on the next generation of consoles with the Xbox Series X/S on 10th November.”

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will take full advantage of the Series X’s beastly hardware, reportedly outputting in “full 4K” and at 60 FPS. Other improvements include higher resolution textures and improved shadows, plus “clutter density,” which doesn’t sound like it should be a good thing but Ubisoft assures us that it is. It also promises faster loading times and “a smoother world transversal experience.”

Better yet, Valhalla — along with Watch Dogs: Legion — will be using Smart Delivery, so if you don’t end up getting a new console at launch and buy the game for Xbox One, you’ll have the enhanced version waiting for you on Series X/S when you eventually do decide to upgrade.

Pre-ordering any one of the 4,129 different editions of Valhalla will also net you an additional bonus mission called “The Way of the Berserker” which, according to Ubisoft, will let players “join a legendary Norse Berserker on his quest for revenge.” If you like putting axes in people, this sounds like it’ll be a prime opportunity to do so. Also, get help.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will launch on Novermber 10th for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC, and PlayStation 4. Looking forward to vikinging?

Really excited for Valahalla!

Ubisoft’s latest Assassin’s Creed Valhalla trailer gives us a better look at the game than we’ve had in a while, with new story and character details and more info on the invasion.

https://youtu.be/Dz0GBDpB990

This trailer gives a more in-depth look at the story, characters, and motivation for invading England, as well as info on that hidden blade. First up, we meet Sigurd, who Ubisoft confirms is Eivor’s adopted brother. We also learn that Eivor is higher up in Viking society than we’d thought: Eivor’s adoptive father is King Styrbjorn of Forberg, and Sigurd is his heir. He’s also, it turns out, the reason why the Vikings leave Norway.

Narrative director Darby McDevitt says Eivor was made “as an exemplar of what we felt was a particularly Nordic sensibility – possessed by a deep sense of honour, devoted to family, unflappable in times of strife, unwilling to suffer fools, and possessed of a gallows humour.” Eivor is “a fixed character with a consistent personality,” but you’ll still be able to choose outcomes based on how you think Eivor would react. The trailer gives a look at other characters: we’d already seen King Aelfred of Wessex, but there’s also a brief look at the sons of Ragnar Lothbrok: Ivarr, Ubba, and Halfdan, who are mentioned as another powerful faction in England.

We get a glimpse of assassins and the hidden blade, as McDevitt says Sigurd has just returned from a journey to Constantinople where he met the Hidden Ones, and that learning more about them prompted him to give a wrist blade to Eivor. It’s also confirmed that The Order of the Ancients are the Hidden Ones’ enemies at the time of Valhalla, and Eivor’s story will influence the fate of both factions.

When the development team said earlier this year that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla would bring back the option of social stealth, everyone was a bit confused as to how this would work, since Eivor is a burly, heavily-armed Viking, and might stand out just a bit. Ubisoft later clarified that the hood and cloak would have “social stealth value”, and some players were mystified once again, as to how just pulling a hood up would help Eivor blend into a crowd of monks or farmers or the like. This latest trailer shows just a glimpse of how this might work, with several shots of brooding faces and hoods and cloaks pulled on. We also see assassination and stealth in play, with Eivor running across a rooftop and killing a guard.

Valhalla

Eivor’s tale is made up of “self-contained stories” with a “core emotional story running through” the middle, and just to stress us all out, Eivor will “go through a series of devastating hardships.” McDevitt wouldn’t comment on multiple endings, but said there are “multiple fascinating pathways” to follow. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla launches on November 10th, and pre-ordering gets you a bonus mission, “The Way of the Berserker.”

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla lets you “leap beyond” to Asgard and Jotunheim

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is less than a month away and Ubisoft is preparing players for launch with a new deep-dive trailer, which offers a deep-dive indeed: over seven minutes of footage, gameplay, and new details are shown in the trailer below.

So, let’s break this down. We see more of the game’s characters, locations, activities, and story details. There is a focus on the settlement feature, something which looks hugely promising and a good way of grounding the player in what is otherwise, if we’re basing off of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, a pretty massive map. You’ll bring resources back to upgrade your settlement, Ravensthorpe, and the trailer suggests that conquest and forging alliances are two ways to do this. There are a variety of buildings to upgrade your settlement with, including a blacksmith, a barracks where you can appoint a raiding crew and a Jomsviking to act as lieutenant, a tattooist, a shipyard to customise your ship, and the Hidden One’s Bureau. Ubisoft also mentions a cartographer’s shop for finding treasure, farms, a workshop, and more.

There are other activities to do in Ravensthorpe, including drinking, playing the dice game Orlog, and throwing feasts, but your settlement won’t always be safe — the trailer suggests Eivor will draw enemy attention. Ubisoft describes Orlog, meanwhile, as “an elaborate dice game that feels more like a card battle, with attacks, defences, health points, and godly powers.” Gwent was a huge and effective part of The Witcher 3, with many players choosing to abandon their Witcher duties in favour of challenging every innkeeper and tyrant across the game, so it will be interesting to see whether Orlog will offer something similar. It also seems as though Eivor will be visiting other settlements, as Ubisoft mentions “there are plenty of friendly settlements where you’re welcome to hang out,” where getting involved in “Viking pastimes” will earn you cash and more charisma “that can open up more options for negotiating with other characters.”

We see more of a few characters, including Randvi, who will be found at Ravensthorpe’s Alliance Map, and Valka, the seer. This leads us on to another interesting part of the trailer. Ubisoft presents Valhalla as a game for wanderers, and beyond Norway and England, Valka will “unlock your senses” to help you “leap beyond” to Asgard and Jotunheim — confirmed in a tweet from Ubisoft Nordic.

In Valhalla, you’ll also be dealing with legends of England, and the trailer shows Eivor wielding the legendary sword Excalibur. We see Eivor engaging in all sorts of combat, from stealth and assassination to large-scale battles and attacks on forts. Animal companions seem to be back, as Eivor has a Man’s Best Friend ability which lets him send in a wolf against enemies, and you’ll find other special abilities in Books of Knowledge. The trailer also revealed that while you can choose Eivor’s gender at the start of the game and change it whenever you want, you can also select the option to “let the ANIMUS choose,” which will switch between the male and female Eivor throughout the story.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla launches on November 10th for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: Ubisoft details post-launch content and Season Pass

Ubisoft has just shared a deep-dive into what’s to come post-launch with Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. We get two major expansions and a bonus mission with the Season Pass, as well as regular free content for all players, with four pieces of free content arriving in the game’s first year alone.

If you bought the Gold or Ultimate editions of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, you’ll get the Season Pass, its two major expansions, and the bonus mission included. The first expansion, Wrath of the Druids, launches in early Spring 2021 and takes us to Ireland to investigate an ancient druid cult: the Children of Danu. You might be playing as a Viking but you’ll still have assassin duties, namely, finding and eliminating the cult’s members. This expansion also offers new types of gameplay with the challenge of defeating ring forts, and interfering in Dublin’s trading system. The devs say that with its druid storylines, this expansion has “darker tones.”

Expansion number two, The Siege of Paris, launches in early summer 2021 and takes you to Francia for what is described as “probably one of the most recognisable events in Viking history.” You’ll be up against historical figures like Charles the Fat, tasked with conquering Paris from within, and taking part in new repayable activities, such as raids on Charles the Fat’s elite units. The free bonus mission, The Legend of Beowulf, will be available at launch.

Season Pass and free content

All Assassin’s Creed Valhalla players will also get free seasonal content. There are four pieces planned for the game’s first year, with the first arriving at the end of 2020 and bringing the Yule Festival to Eivor’s settlement. The second arrives in Spring 2021, followed by the third in Summer 2021, and the fourth in Fall 2021. The idea of Eivor’s settlement as a key hub area will continue, as the devs say all pieces of free content will feature festivals within the settlement, events, new progression, skills, gear, adventures, and gameplay. The devs add that the “most ambitious part” of this seasonal content are the new game modes. The first, a River Raid, arrives early in the post-launch timeline and “capitalises on the core fantasy of the raiding mechanic in the main game,” as well as the idea of the Jomsviking, as you can hire this Viking lieutenant from friends online.

Lastly, we got confirmation that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will have a Discovery Tour. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla launches on November 10th.
