NEW MODES: RAMBO’S GUN GAME & 3V3 GUNFIGHT

Our ‘80s Action Heroes event continues with Rambo’s Gun Game in Black Ops Cold War this week! The rotation of 20 weapons gets a serious boost in firepower, as the Combat Bow, War Machine, RPG-7, and even the Death Machine get added into a fresh set of armaments. Die Hardpoint has become an instant fan-favorite and stands strong this week in our Multiplayer Featured Playlists, along with 12v12 Moshpit and Standoff 24/7 . In addition, Snipers Only Moshpit returns to Multiplayer via the Quick Play menu for all you sharpshooters out there.

We’re also bringing 3v3 Gunfight to Multiplayer for the first time, where two teams of three throw down on our smallest maps with randomized loadouts. This one’s different from the 3v3 playlists we’ve had in the past – here, you’ll be playing purely by standard Gunfight rules without being restricted to sniper rifle loadouts or melee weapons only. We’re also testing out 6v6 gameplay on these maps for a special variant of Face Off in the near future, so keep those eyes peeled.

MULTI-TEAM ELIMINATION: UPDATES & TIPS

It’s been amazing to see all the positive responses to our new Multi-Team: Elimination mode since Season Three Reloaded kicked off! This last-team-standing experience was designed as a love letter to Blackout fans, featuring gameplay elements from Black Ops 4 ’s Down But Not Out LTM to keep the action moving with multiple redeploys and loot-to-survive fundamentals.

In today’s update, we’ve added some new gameplay and UI improvements based on player feedback to make Elimination even better, including increased XP values, map voting, improved ping visibility, and more. Check out the full list in the patch notes below, and watch for more updates on the way.

Additionally, we wanted to share some tips from the dev team to help your chances of success in Elimination:

  • Infil: This is your first drop into the match, and can pave the way to success throughout the match. Be on the lookout for the Supply Drop chopper while in the infil plane and make your way to the package if you’re looking for the rarest items. Supply Drops contain lethal Scorestreaks like the Death Machine, War Machine, and Sentry Turrets in addition to weapons, Armor Plates, and Equipment.
    • If you don’t manage to make it to a Supply Drop, don’t worry, as everyone will have access to a standard submachine gun on each infil and redeploy. This does mean that you’ll want to be ready to fight when your boots hit the ground.
  • Play the Edge: For those who prefer a more peaceful start, try heading to the perimeter of the maps. While you may not get into as many engagements, the connecting areas and forests throughout the Ural Mountains are great spots to find containers to slowly build up your loadout. Keep your eyes on the expanding radiation, however, as you can easily find yourself on the wrong side of the clouds. You’ll see waypoints in the distance to give you a good idea of how quickly you need to move.
  • Mid-Game: This is where things start to heat up. Each player gets five redeploys throughout the match. Redeploys occur on a rolling 30-second wave, which means anyone in the queue to redeploy will be dropping back in when that timer hits :00, as long as one of their teammates is still alive.
    • If you find yourself in an engagement with an enemy squad and don’t manage to eliminate them from the match by wiping the squad, stay vigilant, as it’s likely those same enemies will be dropping right back in to get their revenge. We suggest you stay on the move after engagements or risk getting squad-wiped yourself.
  • Endgame: Time for the payoff. By now, you should have your ideal loadout tailored for the eventual exfil site. If you’re battling over the rooftops in Sanatorium, a great setup might be a tactical rifle, submachine gun, and a Field Mic to detect any enemies that may try to flank your squad. If you find yourself in a more open setting like the ski slopes of Alpine, a sniper rifle, assault rifle, and a Smoke Grenade can go a long way at picking off enemies at range and providing cover for a potential exfil.
  • Exfil: The decision between eliminating all enemies or attempting an exfil for the W is situational. If the area is still hot with a high number of enemies, you may want to let the other squads battle it out and hope for some wipes, or do the dirty work yourself. When the number of remaining enemies is low for the final zone, an exfil could be the right choice with the right tactics in play.
    • If you do go for the exfil, make sure your squad covers the angles to the chopper while you swoop in and hook up. This is also the perfect time to equip and deploy those Scorestreaks that you managed to find along the way. Good luck!

2XP WEEKEND BEGINS TOMORROW

We’re kicking off the long weekend with four days of 2XP in Black Ops Cold War MP and Zombies starting tomorrow through 10AM PT Tuesday, June 1st! There’s never been a better time to unlock every Season Challenge and hit Prestige Master, so get to it.

Raven Software has released a new game settings update for Call of Duty: Warzone on all platforms on May 27 which brings some highly requested updates for Solo players along with more weapon balancing updates.

The new Game Settings Update for Warzone will bring a highly requested change for the Solos mode in Warzone. The Bertha, the cargo truck in Warzone, has had its spawn rate drastically reduced in Solos.

This update also brings some weapon changes and updates.

The update brings an additional nerf for the CR-56 AMAX, as Raven says they believe the weapon is still over performing in its category.

Also included are some changes to the FARA, Tactical Rifle Charlie, the optics of the Tundra, and updates to certain Cold War attachments in Call of Duty: Warzone.

Raven shared the full patch notes for the update, as seen below.

GAMEPLAY

  • Cargo Truck spawn rates for Verdansk Solo BR mode have been reduced to 5 (static) from a range of 16 to 20.
    • This change will take effect when our Playlist update goes live later today.

    • Cargo Trucks are incredibly durable and provide ample cover from enemy fire—which makes them the optimal choice for map rotation. In Solos, players are not keen to unload a considerable amount of their resources into the removal of Cargo Trucks, which would often result in a significant number of them in final circles. The ensuing gameplay allowed players to skirt traditional engagements and created a crutch that put less of an emphasis on end game positioning and gunplay. A substantial reduction in the number of Cargo Trucks in Solos will make whittling them down over the course of the game a feasible and attractive option given their considerably reduced map presence.

BUG FIXES

  • Fixed additional map locations in Verdansk that allowed players to reach out-of-bounds areas.
  • Fixed additional collision issues with various elements across Verdansk allowing players to exploit/peek/shoot through them.
  • Fixed a bug where vehicles could down or kill squad mates.
  • Fixed an issue in Nakatomi Plaza where the vault access denied audio could be heard throughout the entire building.
    • Because we can’t trust you to realize that once access has been denied , you should walk away from the button and not try again… and over again… and over again .
  • Fixed a bug preventing the Ballistic Knife Camouflage skins from unlocking upon completing their respective requirements.
  • Fixed a bug where the Swat 5mw Laser Sight for Sniper Rifles was not displaying Aiming Stability as a pro.
  • Fixed the incorrect labeling of Sniper Rifle Echo as Sniper Rifle Delta.

WEAPONS

  • Assault Rifles

    • CR-56 AMAX
      • Headshot multiplier decreased from 1.62 to 1.5

      • The CR-56 AMAX has continued to display disproportionate levels of dominance over the long-range Assault Rifle space. As we continue our efforts to slowly raise the Time to Kill, we feel the best course of action here is to reduce the power level of outliers rather than increase others to meet it. We believe it will take some time to adjust to a landscape where the CR-56 AMAX is not the undisputed king of long-range automatic weapons, but we feel this will be a net positive given how many more weapons we expect to be introduced into viability with this update. Our hope is that this change will present players with an opportunity to showcase and expand their mastery over a multitude of weapons that had been outclassed by the CR-56 AM.

    • FARA 83
      • Recoil pattern adjusted

      • Hip Spread increased

      • We have not yet settled on the identity of the FARA 83. We would like to see it as a long-range viable Assault Rifle and in that light, we have smoothed out its recoil to be easier to control at range. We are also increasing its Hip Spread so it is slightly less effective in close quarters. This functional overlap is something we want to avoid and will continue to address where we identify it.

  • Tactical Rifles

    • Tactical Rifle Charlie
      • Recoil magnitude decreased

      • Tactical Rifle Charlie has fallen victim to a bit of an overreduction in efficacy. While we still maintain that Tactical Rifles ride a very thin line between underwhelming and oppressive, we feel that the Tactical Rifle Charlie could be closer to that line.

  • Sniper Rifles

    • LW3 – Tundra
      • Base optic adjusted

      • We have made some adjustments to reduce the fisheye lens effect.

ATTACHMENTS

    • We feel the impact that these changes will have cannot be understated. We believe optics have been holding back the long-range viability of BOCW Weapons and we expect that these optics adjustments will drastically change that. When optics are too close to the camera, they can cause distracting motions and visual obfuscation and in long-range engagements especially, visual clarity is crucial. We believe with these changes, that an expanded assortment of long-range viable weapons will become available.
  • Muzzles

    • Suppressor (LMG)
      • ADS Speed increased from 2% to 3.5%

      • Sprint to Fire Speed increased from 4% to 5%

      • We have seen some reports that the Suppressor appears to be affecting Light Machine Guns negatively, or not at all. We can assure you that is not the case. Considering the test environment frame rate and such small increments, it can be difficult to accurately measure the impact an attachment may have. Notwithstanding, we felt that the values on the LMG Suppressor could use an increase to give them more of a fighting chance in a sea of Assault Rifles.

The update brings with it some interesting changes to a variety of Black Ops Cold War optics to help increase their viability compared to the Modern Warfare ones, to make them feel more natural in the Modern Warfare engine.

Warzone Season 3 Reloaded has introduced some pretty nice new content into the game, keeping players entertained with a new ’80s Action Hero event, including a new POI and LTM Power Grab.

On top of all this, Warzone players have now also been treated to an update that brings a variety of changes to keep the player base on their toes.

Not only have the AMAX and FARA received some changes, but Raven Software also decided it was time to tweak and improve some of the Black Ops Cold War optics that haven’t felt right since they were introduced.

Firstly, the LW3 Tundra‘s optic has been altered to “reduce the fisheye lens effect,” increasing the clarity of the sight. Further, the Axial Arms 3x, Royal & Kross 4x, and SUSAT Multizoom have received reworks to improve their clarity and make them just as competitive as the Modern Warfare ones.

Popular Call of Duty content creator JGOD showed off the reworked optics over on Twitter, presenting the “huge difference after the update.”
