Call of Duty 2021 to skip E3, will include new "significantly larger" Warzone map

Call of Duty 2021, which is rumoured to be called Call of Duty: Vanguard, will reportedly feature a new map for Call of Duty: Warzone, which is set in the Pacific theatre during World War II.

The news comes from VGC, who also says that Activision will not show Vanguard at E3 this year and instead will reveal it via an in-game event in Warzone. The report states that developer Sledgehammer Games has “a significant amount of content planned for the battle royale game, which will officially transition to a World War II setting, just months after shifting to the 1980s.” VGC says the new WWII map will be “significantly larger” than the current Verdansk map in Warzone and that new vehicles are set to be added to the free-to-play battle royale game due to the size of the new map.

VGC also reports that Call of Duty: Vanguard will launch for both current and previous-gen consoles in November, featuring a “campaign, multiplayer, and zombies modes set in the European and Pacific theatres of World War II, with its plot centring around the birth of modern allied Special Forces.”

So far, Activision hasn’t revealed anything on Call of Duty 2021, other than that Sledgehammer Games (who previously developed Call of Duty: WWII) is leading development on the new title, and that it’s being developed for a “next-gen experience”.
