I got a series x. feel lucky I even got the damn preorder in.
I play a lot of back compat games like conker and SSX 3 so that’s a must have feature for me. Also just excited to have a bunch of the newer games get upgrades like Doom eternal. and IDK i guess i just prefer xbox live.
If I was a sweaty master race I definitely would’ve gotten a 3080. those things are un fucking believable.
Wasn’t lucky enough to get a pre order thus far. I main on PS so I’m after the PS5 disc version but the retailer leaks and lack of email notifications hurt my chances pretty good.
I’ll likely get the series S as well but it wasn’t my target for pre order but will see how things shake up until launch and I’ll take what I can get.
I’m still on the hunt for a PS5 as the initial upgrade due to better initial exclusives, primarily the new Spider-man game. Hoping to get lucky over the next month, but worst case I can’t imagine there won’t be some units to be had at the time of release.
However, I did secure a pre-order for an XSX. I don’t really need it, and will likely flip it into a bday/xmas gift for the youngest.
I’m totally fine to wait until the systems are readily available. Waiting until I can order one off Amazon or walk into Costco and pick one up.
I’d like to get the all-digital PS5 and might still if one falls into my lap.
I think waiting till 2021 will give a better look at the landscape.
Are most games $70? Is the PS5 way better than Series X? Is the Series X way better than PS5? Is the Series S a beauty? Is Game Pass to good of a deal to ignore?
if you ask me, the XSX is a better overall machine but until i get one in my hands i can’t vouch for stuff like heat, though supposedly it has great cooling capabilities.
Game pass is a great deal, no doubt. no shortage of shit to play ever.
I believe the only $70 game so far is COD Cold war. $70 will likely become the norm on both systems at some point.
other than that though, it’s just about what games you want to play. Get that system yknow. Series S and digital PS5 I’m not a fan of though I won’t scoff at either. I just like having a physical game collection.
It’s funny I just don’t want any physical media. Sweet electronic ones and zeros for me.
I want to see how the games perform on the actual hardware have some good old digital foundry comparisons.
As you have pointed out it would be nice to see how cool and quiet the systems run.
Ya Steve digital foundry was a huge reason I finally convinced myself to get an xbox one x. They’re videos are so helpful. Sometimes I just wanna know what fucking in game resolution is for a title. They always seem to have the answer when google doesn’t.
The worst is when the ui is in 4k so xbox says “ITS IN 4K GUYS” but really the engine runs the game with a dynamic res up to 1800p or something
Luckily for me Best Buy delayed the pre-order for hours. I managed snag one off their site at 2 pm.
I do still need to get one from Gamestop at some point. My one kid has 200 bucks in credit there so I want to burn it on an XBox. Hoping more sneak out during the holiday season. Wishful thinking.
Nice! I was originally going to go with best buy but I couldn’t tell if they “hadn’t launched” or already sold out and just forgot to update the button! Such a confusing mess all around.
No one really wants physical media anymore. Most of us don’t go back to games. Plus, I’m able to game share with my oldest kid so I don’t feel guilty impulse buying. Hell, I got the Tony Hawk remake game as I wanted to try it again. My oldest was all about it, he’s 20 now and would play the original as a little kid. I played it for maybe an hour or two, he 100% it already. So I don’t feel bad at all for impulse buying.
How can retailers fuck up both Sony PS5 and MS XBox preorders so badly. Really just a shit show. And why not just make and release more. You know the demand will be there.
I got an X, but I couldn’t get one for my kid. He has a One X, so he should be fine to wait - like he has a choice.
I was really thinking about getting the Series S because I only buy digital now, but the fact that I do occassionaly throw in the odd disc, and the odd Blu Ray, and the fact that I have $150 in Gift cards made it an easier choice for me.
In the past, I’ve shared my entire digital library with my daughter. Works out pretty well. I’m willing to pay the extra (or wait for a sale) to avoid physical media.
Lala, it’s honestly up to the retailers to spin up new web servers to handle the load. But even then, Amazon and their amazing AWS and microsofts fucking Azure cloud they both fucked up. I think companies are willing to let the websites crash within a certain liklihood percentage. ultimately saves them money, all they have to do is frustrate their customers. and the thing is, most people aren’t preordering these consoles. this was for the sweaty tryhards who game everyday lmfao
I’m surprised you guys all hate physical media! haha. I collect records too, and i just like seeing neat rows with all the spines and being able to hold the artwork in my hand. I also still waste time reading the back of the box just to hype myself up for playing it. Makes me feel like a kid when I’m about to game.
But I was a PC gamer for a while until last year and that thinking went out the window when I was pumping mass into my steam library lol.
I go the physical route for the simple reason that I rarely - if ever - feel the desire to replay a game after I’m done with it. As a result, selling back to either Best Buy or Amazon is a nice option to reduce the overall price of ownership even if just a tad. Normally get in the neighborhood of $15-20 back on an AAA title that I’m done with…
I almost never play again… I do like the idea that those games are there if I ever want to play them.
I used to buy my games new, play them quickly, and then resell them. It was a good cheap way to go. Now I’m so lazy I don’t want to mess with selling and shipping or even driving to the store.
Press buy, wait for the download, and never think about it again.
My digital preference includes books, movies, comics, etc… I don’t want anything I need to stack or organize.
