Good News for the Xbox guys.

Rocket League ‘Absolutely’ Coming to Additional Platforms

Vehicle sports game Rocket League is “absolutely, 100 percent” coming to additional platforms, according to developer Psyonix.

Following Rocket League’s early success on PlayStation 4 and PC, Psyonix Vice President of Marketing and Communications Jeremy Dunham told Gamezone the developer is now “in a position” to expand. “We are absolutely, 100 percent going to other platforms. What those platforms are and when we’ll come to them, I don’t know yet,” he added.

With only 8-12 people working on Rocket League throughout the majority of its development, Psyonix decided to focus on a limited number of platforms for the game’s launch. “We wanted to make [sure] that it was very good, very polished, that everybody liked it, and the only way we could ensure that was to focus on two platforms,” said Dunham. He added the studio didn’t want to “port [Rocket League] to as many platforms as we possibly could just to try to maximize our profit.” Psyonix has already hired “a couple” more people since Rocket League was released last month, and hopes to add even more employees in the near future, allowing the team to work on development for other platforms.

As far as additional platforms go, Dunham says none of the current-gen consoles are off the table: “If the game can work on the platform and we can responsibly get that game working on a platform, we will never say never to any of the platforms that are current-gen. Anything is possible.”
