Bloober Team has dropped an extended gameplay trailer for upcoming Xbox Series X|S console exclusive, The Medium. The 14-minute video gives us a better look at the psychological horror game’s “split-screen dual-reality” gameplay.
In the tense trailer, we see medium Marianne explore the real and spirit world independently from one another and then both simultaneously. Marianne must use her psychic abilities to unravel a mystery at an abandoned and haunted hotel resort. The video gives us a small taste of what to expect when running into The Maw, the game’s main antagonist that can also travel between different realities. In the spirit world, The Maw is visible, but can also spot Marianne, while in the real world, the supernatural being is invisible and blind and relies on hearing to locate its prey.
According to Bloober Team, a third of the action will take place in the real world, another third in the spirit world, and the final third in both realms at the same time.
The Medium launches on January 28th for Xbox Series X|S and PC. The game will also be available with Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass for PC on day one.
