Hood: Outlaws & Legends gameplay trailer shows off Ranger class

The upcoming PvPvE medieval multiplayer heist game Hood: Outlaws & Legends has a new gameplay trailer focusing on the Ranger. Inspired by Robin Hood, the Ranger is one of four characters you’ll be able to play as when Hood: Outlaws & Legends launches in May.

Game director Andrew Willans says the Ranger “represents a twist on the most well-known figure of the folk hero legend: Robin Hood.” The Ranger specialises in the longbow and can take enemies out from a distance, or shoot down ropes to allow team members to climb walls and escape guard routes. The Ranger seems to favour stealth and speed, and will evade enemy attacks rather than blocking them. He can also temporarily daze or blind enemies, and the special Scout trait allows him to tag targets for the team. If stealth fails, the Ranger also has an ultimate ability called Farsight which fires an explosive arrow, dealing damage to all enemies in the area.

The world of Hood: Outlaws & Legends is under the control of a powerful and shadowy organisation called the State. You and your team will be attempting to steal from the State — from treasure-filled strongholds, for instance — but you’re not the only ones. You’ll need to make a plan, steal the treasure, and make off with it without alerting State guards or the rival gangs on your tail. This is made all the more difficult by the game’s focus on more realistic aspects — for instance, lugging that heavy treasure chest around might make enough noise to attract guards. The trailer above also gives an idea of the other sort of objectives you’ll have, like pickpocketing the sheriff, or taking the Vault Key off the enemy team.

Hood: Outlaws & Legends launches on May 10th. If you pre-order, you’ll get access to the game three days earlier on May 7th, along with the free Forest Lords cosmetic pack, which comes with a skin for each character and weapon. If you pre-order the Year 1 Edition, you’ll also get access to three Battle Passes which will launch after the game’s first free Season. In the meantime, the devs will cover the three other classes —Hunter, Brawler, and Mystic — with more gameplay trailers soon.
