I'm ready for the $100/$120 game.

First you need a free myBestBuy account. It will get you points on all purchases at Best Buy. There are 3 tiers and the more you spend per year the higher the tier you will get. Higher tier equals more points. 250 points = $5. I am able to stay in tier 3 (Elite Plus) because my parents use my account as well as our family business.

Next you need a Best Buy Gamers Club Unlocked account. It is $30 for 2 years. I paid the first time and have used points to pay for it the 2nd time I have had to pay. Pretty sure you even get points for buying this.

Gamers Club Unlocked Perks:

  • 20% off New games - Disclaimer The 20% off new releases is only for retail disc version not digital
  • 10% Bonus Trade-in Credit - watch for when they offer 2x trade-ins to make it even better
  • 10% Off Pre-owned games
  • 20% off video game e-guides
  • 2x points on game trade-ins
  • points on consoles
  • They will offer $10 in points if you preorder games when they are offering it. They do it for most popular games. This is where I get a nice chunk of points to bank for free games.

Obviously the more you spend the more you are gonna get out of it. $47.99 is nice for new releases but if you have Amazon Prime you already get that.

Edited to add: @BalekFekete has also been a member for awhile now and likes it.

I forget this also. If you use a Best Buy store card or BB Mastercard you get even more points. Interest probably fucks that though.

I can vouch for the Gamers Club too. Worth it all around IMO. On some of the blockbuster titles Best Buy will sometimes have their own exclusive pre-order bonus content that you normally see with those same games at a GameStop for instance.

Something to note is that if you are pre-ordering and you are paying in full or putting down a deposit it will be looked at as the full amount until you actually pick the game up and go through the final check out. After that the discount is applied and either you pay the difference if you did a deposit or they will credit you back the difference. That confused me the first time i ran into it but they explained it that the pre-order ā€œcardā€ is not looked at as a new game for the purpose of the Gamers Club discount so the actual bar code/UPC code on the game case is what they go off of.

I’d like to do the gamers club for the perks, but I have to go digital to game share.

Shit…I think Johnny is right…you cannot buy digital on this…am I a snob if i don’t want to deal with disks…I don’t want them in my house i don’t want to have to put them into the console to change from one game to another (like i play anything but D2)…so i’m on board with the best buy club…when they go digital…I think i just use Gamestop or xbox when i buy a download now.

I stated that in my post about digital. You can still get points you just don’t get the 20% off. If it’s something I want digital i just use my points to buy a xbox gift card and buy the game that way.

Amazon is the same way. You don’t get 20% digital. They are doing this so they are not storing physical disk in a warehouse forever. They actually save money buy selling cheaper than having to pay for space to store them.
