Looking at headsets.

I’m thinking about getting a headset for my xbone…What is everyone using any problems/issues I should know about? What brands are best?

You probably will get a bunch of different options in this thread and you can’t go wrong with a decent headset. Long term comfort is something to look at.

Currently I have been using these and enjoying them.

I was looking at those @sjam613…are those wired or wireless? and how does the superhuman hearing thing work?

I tend to have the superhuman hearing thing turned off. It is wired to your controller adapter but not to the xbox.

oh ok…that part wasn’t too clear in any of the info I could find…does it affect the battery life of the controller a lot?

Also sporting the XO7s myself and have been nothing but pleased with them so far.

I have the XO4s, and I love them. I’m pretty sure you can’t go wrong with the 7s if you want to go with the higher up model.

Do you have to clean out the cobwebs before putting them on?

I have good luck with Tutle Beaches, i’m on my 3rd set over the yers. Black friday always has some very good deals if you wanna get some cheap until then.

Yea it does. I plug in every time after using.

I tend to just keep mine plugged in so zero effect for me!

I’m thinking of getting a new headset as well. My oldest confiscated my Astros and I’d like to replace the Polks. I gave up the Astros as I kept having disconnect issues with the controller. I’m pretty sure it’s the controller that’s causing this. It’ll be a quick hiccup but it happens a quite a bit and the Astros take a bit to reconnect.

I just ordered the HyperX Cloud Gaming Headset (in white of course) They are a $150 headset on sale for $69.99. You will need the XBox Controller adapter for them . I have the TB Earforce plus (built in Mic monitoring, works very well).

I should have the headset Monday and will let you know if they’re any good. I see lots of good reviews on Amazon, so I’m pretty excited.

i was thinking about getting these for PC, but im not using my PC for gaming at the time

My new headset came it yesterday and I got to put it through it’s paces.

My H2 Review: “I like it, I like it a lot.”

First off, this is a $150 for $69. So the price is pretty good. It’s also packaged really well. The headset is very light, probably the lightest headset I own (Polks, Old Astro A40, New Astro A50). The padding and earcups are really nice and soft. This is a very comfortable head set to wear. It also comes with a thick tangle free cord to connect to your controller.

"Who cares about that? How does it sound?"
The headset boosts a 53mm hifi capable drivers with 15-25khz frequency response. WTF does that mean? Well, it means it sounds very good. These can get much louder than the polks and seemed to have a wider range in sound (I always felt the Polks were a little flat). I also think these are bassier than my other headsets.

Cons:
I only have a really minor issue with the headset. It’s a PC gamer headset, so the Mic and Sound cords are separate. You have to use a Y connecter/splitter (which it comes with) to connect to your controller. I wish the headset cable could be removed and replaced with just a single jack cable. It’s a minor issue but one worth noting.

I think this is a very solid choice if you’re looking fore a gamer headset. It sounds great, very lightweight and the price is right. You will need a XBox chat adapter as this does not come with one (it’s a PC headset afterall). Do yourself a favor and get the TB Earforce Headset Controller Plus. It’s 40 bucks but has built in Mic Monitoring, meaning you can hear yourself talk (so you won’t shout into the mic). This controller works very very well.

It’s the same as the other adapters. Left side mixes Game / Voice, right side is master volume.

It also has some other features that I haven’t really messed. If you’re looking for Mic Monitring, this really works.

Total Control Chat
The Ear Force Headset Audio Controller Plus also features game and chat volume mix, master volume and mic mute controls.

After getting my XO 7 and putting away my Tritton’s mic monitoring has been huge.

I may get that TB adapter, although mic monitoring has never been a big deal to me.

I had to. The wife kept telling me to STFU more often than usual. While I noticed the mic monitoring on the polks and Astros, I can really hear it on the HyperX headset. I think I had the mic closer to my mouth. The boom mic is a little stiffer than the Polk one. The Astro boom mic wasn’t really that flexible and was a lot farther away.
