Pre-Loading Comes to Xbox Game Pass

One of the most popular Xbox Game Pass announcements of this year was when Microsoft exclusives were confirmed to be coming to the program on their day of release. Since then, Sea of Thieves , State of Decay 2 , and Forza Horizon 4 are just some of the games that have arrived on day one. The problem with these, though, is that larger games take forever to download, and without the ability to pre-load these games through Game Pass, it meant waiting a long time to play them. This will now be changing as Xbox’s Corporate Vice President Mike Ybarra confirmed that pre-loading is available now, beginning with Crackdown 3.

Crackdown 3 will be playable on Xbox One and Windows 10 as a Play Anywhere title, and players can currently install the game on either platform as long as they have pre-ordered the title or are a member of Game Pass. In the future, Game Pass will be coming to Windows PC too, although details of this are few at the moment and we don’t yet know when this will happen. We’ll be sure to let you know as soon as we do.

Interesting.

I see how this could play into coaxing people to maintain/resub Game Pass, if they preload whilst subbed and then later the games comes out - well, if it’s already on my Xbox…

Wait, how can I Preload a game that isn’t due out for 3 months??

Surely it’s either going to have a huge patch or need to be reinstalled anyway?
