I can’t wait for this movie, the book was fantastic. If you have not read the book, do yourself a favor and start reading it right meow. It’s an easy, quick read and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I still think Matt Damon is an odd choice for the role. I think they needed someone a bit nerdier and someone that could pull off Mark Watney’s sarcastic humor.
I’ll second Lala on the book suggestion - the book is phenomenal. One of the best books I’ve read in quite a while.
I’m a little apprehensive about Damon in the lead role as well, but I think he can pull off the sarcastic humor. He’s done that quite a bit on Kimmel’s show, but it’s something they haven’t tapped into for a movie yet.
But, I think that Jeff Danies and Teddy Sanders, Sean Bean as Mitch Henderson, and Donald Glover as Rich Purnell are inspired casting choices. If they get enough screen time, they could really steal the movie - especially Sean Bean toward the end of it.
Well…I don’t want to spoil anything…
I will third the book recommendation. Was a great quick read.
Make that four recommendations. Great book. Damon may not be too bad. I think he may can pull off the sarcasm. He did already play a stranded astronaut recently. Really looking forward to it.
I’ll be curious to see the final running time. My biggest concern is the book covers too much ground time wise, where they may have to cut out some stuff to fit it into the standard 2 hours.
