ARK: Survival Evolved Releases the TEK Tier Update With a Valentine's Event

I haven’t seen too much chatter about this game lately, not sure if anyone knew about this or not.

This week marked the release of ARK: Survival Evolved’s epic — and a little bit, shall we say, out there — TEK Tier update, which added futuristic armor, weapons and equipment to the prehistoric survival game.

While we already detailed all of the patch notes, videos and screenshots, which you can check out here, there is new detail released since the patch content was announced, which is a Valentine’s Day themed event.

In this event, dinosaurs have caught the love bug. Mating ranges are increased, recovery times are decreased, and mated creatures have a chance to drop a box of chocolates, which will fully heal you or tame a creature up to 50%. According to the official details, you may have to use the command “-vday” to get the event going on your server:

With this event, Survivors will be gain the ability to learn one new emote, as well as a new stylish hairstyle for each gender. Creatures have also been affected by Cupid’s spell in the following way:

They have a 5% chance to drop a Box of Chocolate when they mate. Boxes of Chocolate can be used for a Full Heal or to advance 50% of a creature’s taming affinity bar.

All servers (including Officials) using the following commandline parameter: -vday can get some extra mate-boosted bonuses:

  • Mate Boosted range increased by 2x
  • Mating Speed and Mating Recovery increased by 3x
  • Creature Maturing and Egg Incubation speed has been increased by 3x
  • Baby Food Consumption has been decreased by 1/3

The event doesn’t appear to have an official end date, so be sure to enjoy your boxes of chocolates while you can, and of course the new content added in the update.
