Battlefield 2042 Exodus short film announced, showing new maps in narrative context

Upcoming and highly anticipated first-person shooter Battlefield 2042 might have no campaign, but the overarching narrative will be outlined in a short film called Exodus, developer DICE has announced.

DICE has announced that the narrative context for Battlefield 2042 will be contained in a short film called Exodus that will be released on August 12th simultaneously across the globe. A livestream event for the short film is currently up and running on Youtube in preparation, but a short teaser is available in the tweet.

The film will be about an on-the-ground journalist, called Kayvan Bechir, who will guide us through the maps of the game and the narrative context surrounding each one. In the world of 2042, the world order is being overturned because of environmental collapse. The weather conditions have gone haywire and water levels are rising, so there is plenty of potential for a good story to be told here. In the tiny clip of the trailer, we see a Navy boat manoeuvre through rough seas and some poor person running through a warzone like they are late for the bus, which — as we all know — is the most intense kind of sprint one can do.
