Players are slowly working their way through the list of Borderlands 3 achievements. But some have reported severe performance issues on the Xbox One X.

Digital Foundry put the latest entry into the Borderlands series through its paces and played through the game in different modes on both the PlayStation 4 Pro and the Xbox One X.
Borderlands 3 offers up two different modes to play through the game. One which favours resolution and the other performance. In Resolution Mode, frame rates are capped at 30fps while offering up a 3200x1800 resolution. Performance Mode drops the resolution down to 1080p but bumps frame rates up to 60fps.
Although, that is whatβs supposed to happen. Digital Foundry reports that Borderland 3βs Performance Mode struggles and βhas some genuine issues.β Travelling across the environment seems to be the only time that Borderlands 3 stays locked at its targeted 60 fps. During combat, the fps drops down to the 50s. Frame rates get even worse when fighting in a vehicle with drops of down into the 40s.
Digital Foundry speculates this is to do with Borderlands 3 pushing the CPU in the Xbox One X βa little too hard.β It turns out frame rate drops are even worse on the PlayStation 4 Pro with its weaker CPU.
As seen in the video, Borderlands 3 plays best on Xbox One X with the higher resolution and capped 30 fps frame rate.
