Black Ops Pass

The Black Ops Pass is included in the Digital Deluxe Edition, the Digital Deluxe Enhanced Edition and the Pro Edition, and represents a new approach to post-launch content for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, including a robust live season for the community. Instead of having four separate content drops, Black Ops 4 fans will experience a more frequent cadence to keep things fresh and deliver new maps and content more regularly throughout the year.

There will be more details soon, but for now here’s a list of what comes in the Black Ops Pass, for players who are ready to fully immerse themselves into all three modes of Black Ops 4.

  • “Classified,” a Bonus Zombies Experience, available at Launch
  • 4 Additional All-New Zombies Experiences
  • 12 Multiplayer Maps
  • 4 Exclusive Blackout Characters

The new Zombies experience, Classified, is in addition to the three new Zombies experiences coming at launch: IX, Voyage of Despair and Blood of the Dead. That means fans who pick up the Black Ops Pass will have four Zombies adventures on launch day, and then four more to sink their teeth into post-launch. Now that’s a lot of Zombies.

And with a ton of post-release content for all three modes of Black Ops 4, the team is focused on delivering an epic season of content to support Black Ops 4 post-launch. We all know Treyarch’s track record when it comes to supporting Black Ops, so fans should expect a ton of community events and a full calendar of franchise celebrations for everybody to enjoy.

So you need the Pass for the extra DLC? Is that a cost if you just buy the base game?

So thing has changed except no campaign, and 1 map a month rather than 3 per quarter? This may have dropped off my radar if that’s the case.

You don’t think it’s better that way? I’d much rather have 1 a month instead of waiting 3 or 4 for them.

Not necessarily. If it’s a map that I don’t like, I’d rather have a couple of alternatives to play rather than wait for a month and hope the next one doesn’t suck.

The only hope I have for this game is that it will be closer to Black Ops 2 since they took away the wall running and crazy boost jumps, except for the existence of Specialists still(meh) but the pricing as Hawk mentioned last night seems to be super shady

I saw an announcement during the Sony conference about Blops 4 getting some remastered maps from Blops 1/2.

Plus, Blops 3 will also be getting these same remastered maps.

I really want to see how the implement this game mode.

Interesting. I looked it up, and the BR mode they’ve been running in China is 18 players, but that was because they were using existing maps. I mainly looked because it’s the same dev working on the BR mode, IIRC.

I really hope it’s not like the China version. That shit looks like crap.

Here’s the full schedule for the game’s first beta, via Treyarch:

  • PlayStation 4 (Starts: August 3 at 10am/PT – Ends: August 6 at 10am/PT)

  • PlayStation 4 and Xbox One (Starts: August 10 at 10am/PT – Ends: August 13 at 10am/PT)

  • PC Beta Early Access (Starts: August 10 at 10am/PT) *PC exclusively on Battle.Net

  • PC Open Beta (Starts: August 11 at 10am/PT – Ends: August 13 at 10am/PT)

When Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 was announced back in May, Treyarch revealed they’d be holding a private beta for the game, although details weren’t forthcoming. Now they’ve revealed that there won’t be just one beta, there will be two. The first beta will focus on the general multiplayer experience, while the second will focus entirely on the franchise’s new battle royale mode, Blackout.

Six maps will be available in the multiplayer beta, and the team has promised that two of the maps won’t have been seen before the beta begins. Players can assume the roles of returning Specialists Nomad and Prophet, as well as several new Specialists. In terms of game modes, there will be Team Deathmatch, Domination, Hardpoint, Search & Destroy, and a new objective-based game mode called Control. This sees teams alternate between attacking and defending two static objectives with a limited number of respawns. The first team to win three rounds is crowned the overall winner.

The Pick 10 Gearing Up system returns with changes from its previous iterations and will be available in the beta too. To account for the new Specialist classes, their Special Issue Equipment will be excluded from the Pick 10 tally, so players will still have ten points to use elsewhere. Each loadout gets one piece of Gear; for example, cheaper scorestreaks can be triggered with the COMSEC device, a Stim Shot can heal players faster, and the Acoustic Sensor gives enhanced situational awareness. Finally, weapons each have unique attachments.

Players that participate in the multiplayer beta will get a “unique, one-of-a-kind” calling card that they can display in the full game when it’s released. Those who reach the maximum rank will also receive a Permanent Unlock Token that can be used on any Create-a-Class content. The beta begins for Xbox One at 10am PT on August 10th and ends at 10am PT on August 13th.

Following in September is the Blackout beta. Details on this beta will be revealed in the future, but Treyarch Senior Producer Yale Miller had this to say:

The team has been having a ridiculous amount of fun playing it internally. We are so excited to be able to share that fun with you in September. The community feedback generated from going hands-on is always incredibly important, and it’s never been more so than with Blackout.

Will you be joining in the beta?

Rumor: New info regarding Black Ops 4’s Blackout mode shared on Reddit
By Keshav - July 17, 201816

A Reddit user has posted some unconfirmed info surrounding Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s Blackout mode, the all the new Battle Royale mode coming, on the Black Ops 4 subreddit today.
Thus far, details on the mode have been limited as Treyarch has not fully unveiled the gameplay or feel of the mode beyond the original teaser back in May.
A new leak (unconfirmed as of now) posted on Reddit provides some additional info on the Battle Royale mode.

Here is what was posted by the user on Reddit:
Largest map in Call of Duty history, but lots of focus on verticality. As seen in the teaser, the map features pieces of iconic maps from previous games. Nuketown is located in the middle of the map as an island, surrounded by water, set after the nuke is dropped. The layout and theme of Nuketown in Blackout is similar to that of Nuketown Zombies from Black Ops 2.
Aiming for at very least 50 players, currently testing 64 players right now with plans to increase if possible.
Health is 150HP, replenished via scavengable Medical Kits. Equipping scavenged Armor allows the player to take 1 extra shot, Armor Piercing Rounds will counter the effect of Armor.
Limited Inventory slots, increased space via scavenged Backpacks.
Weapon loot has rarity, depending on the rarity your weapon will have different attachments (Higher Rarity = Better/More Attachments). *Subject to change, there are currently talks about attachments being scavenged rather than rarity-dependent.
Consumable abilities such as the Multiplayer Specialist Abilities. For example, Torque’s Portable Barricade with 1x use, Ruin’s Grapple Hook with limited uses, and Nomad’s Dog which can be commanded to follow the player or guard an area.
Equipment such as the Recon RC, an RC-XD without explosives, can be scavenged and give the player an advantage. Currently, a Monkey Bomb equipment which doesn’t explode can be found, likely a placeholder for a Decoy Grenade.
Land, air, and sea vehicles as seen in the teaser. The ATV is the only fully-functioning vehicle in the current build.
The Storm/Gas mechanic is currently a simple visible wall that closes in on the map.
While players simply parachute into the map. *Subject to change, talks of moving to a spawn-in system similar to Call of Duty: Online are happening.
Activision and Treyarch have not confirmed this information, and there is no indication yet if this leak is accurate.
Activision has not officially stated yet when they will reveal the Blackout Battle Royale mode. It was recently confirmed that there will be a Private Beta for the Blackout mode, coming in September first on PlayStation 4.
We’ll update as we get more info.

The Zombies Return In Full Force In Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s New Trailer

The Call of Duty experience just wouldn’t be the same without a never-ending serving of zombies, and as you can expect, Treyarch has us covered again with the Zombie offering in the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. A new trailer has been released titled “Chaos Story”, which reveals the story behind the Zombie experience. Players will follow Scarlett Rhodes as she is out on a mission to solve mystery of the disappearance of her eccentric father.

Along with Scarlett Rhodes will be three loyal outcasts on the new adventure as they all team up to take on waves upon waves of undead, which will come in all sorts of different shapes, forms and sizes. The band of zombie fighters will be travelling through time, using a unique selection of weapons, and doing their best to uncover a prized relic that packs enough power to threaten all of humanity. Players will be able to try out three different Zombie experiences at launch, these being IX, Voyage of Despair, and Blood of the Dead. Check out the new content in the following trailer:

Get your zombie and easter-egg filled fix when Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 releases on October 12th.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Gets a Mystery Box

Up until recently, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 had settled on four editions. We’d seen the standard edition, the digital only Digital Deluxe and Digital Deluxe Enhanced editions, and the physical only Pro Edition. In comparison to the Juggernog Edition that was released for Treyarch’s last title Black Ops III, all of these were fairly tame. However, with the appearance of the Mystery Box Edition, it seems like we spoke too soon.

The super-duper Mystery Box Edition, now the fifth version of the game for those keeping count, is for those really looking to splash the cash. The Mystery Box is only available physically from select retailers and contains:

  • Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 game
  • Black Ops Pass
  • Mystery box
  • 3 Zombies lithographs
  • 10 specialist patches
  • Call of Duty Zombies Dark Horse comic issue #1
  • 4 exclusive Figpins
  • 1,000 piece Zombies jigsaw puzzle
  • Steelbook
  • Popsocket
  • Additional bonus content

If that isn’t enough, there’s also a new trailer looking at the story behind the Blood of the Dead zombies campaign. The re-imagined Mob of the Dead campaign takes Richtofen, Dempsey, Takeo and Nikolai below Alcatraz Penitentiary to a secret laboratory. The quartet were looking to secure the future predicted by the Kronorium, but with the appearance of a never-ending horde of zombies, that future is looking anything but certain right now.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 and its three zombies campaigns will be hitting retailers on October 12th.
