It’s now that time of year where developers add a winter/Christmas twist to their games. It should be of little surprise then that, as one of gaming’s biggest series, Call of Duty is no different. Activision and Sledgehammer Games have announced “Winter Siege”, a community event coming to Call of Duty: WWII.
There’s quite a lot packed into this event. The first addition is a winter version of the Carentan map. Unlike the initial re-imagined version of the map that was only available to season pass owners, this snowy spin on the French fan-favourite will be free for all.
Another fan favourite returning is the Gun Game mode. For those not familiar, this mode starts players off with the same gun. Any time a player gets a kill, they receive a different weapon and must use that instead. This continues until one player gets a kill with the last weapon and they are declared the winner.
That’s not all on offer either. In addition to a winterised Headquarters, some special double XP playlists and a free Winter Supply Drop each week, there’s also some new gear up for grabs. Those who complete special orders will be able to unlock the Gewehr 43 rifle, the STEN sub-machine gun, the GPMG light machine gun and more with orders rotated out daily to provide more opportunities to earn additional variants of these new weapons.

The “Winter Siege” event kicks off this Friday, December 8th and runs until January 2nd, with Gun Game’s Call of Duty: WWII debut happening during the second week of the event.
