A new trailer for Destiny 2’s upcoming major expansion, Beyond Light, reveals a little more of the story, showing Eramis mustering her forces on a quest for revenge.
There are a fair few new story details flying around. Over on the game’s Xbox page, we see one description: “A new power is born out of the ancient Pyramid Ship above Europa’s frozen frontier and a dark empire has risen beneath. In Destiny 2: Beyond Light, join your fellow Guardians and bring down the empire at any cost – even if it means wielding the Darkness itself.” Over on the new story tab on the Destiny 2 site, meanwhile, the developers make a rather cryptic addition: “a growing divide echoes in our collective unconscious. Precious gifts bestowed by the Traveller. Unspeakable evil brought forth by the Pyramids. As division spreads and distrust grows between alliances long thought unbreakable, the truths we hold dear will be questioned.”
In the trailer, we see Eramis, the “deadly Kell of Darkness,” using Stasis powers to muster her forces and plot revenge on the Traveller. Her lieutenants, Atraks, Kridis, Phylaks, and Praksis, also wield Stasis powers and are Eramis’ “most trusted subjects.” On the other side of things are the Exo Stranger, now based on Europa and willing to teach the Guardians about Stasis. The Exo Stranger sends out a call to Eris Morn, once a Hunter, and now focused on fighting the Darkness, and the Drifter, a Lightbearer with a connection to the Darkness. Lastly, and joining these three as a more “uneasy ally” against Eramis, is Variks.
Beyond Light launches on November 10th, and will be available day one for Xbox Game Pass, but the next generation optimized version of Destiny 2 launches on December 8th, featuring 4K resolution, 60FPS, and a free next-gen upgrade via Smart Delivery.
