Destiny 2 DLC Reveal Video and Details - New Ways to Play

Bungie has released a new video of the second of three reveals for upcoming Destiny 2 expansion “Curse of Osiris”, looking at the new public event, end-game reward system, Story Strikes and Heroic Adventures. The stream was originally broadcast on Twitch with the title “New Ways to Play” and is hosted by Community Manager Deej. In this episode, Deej is joined by “Curse of Osiris” Game Director Dan Miller and Art Director Dave Matthews. The video opens with a quick teaser of the new content and a more detailed breakdown is provided below.

Around five minutes in, the stream takes a look at the new Mercury public event, which Bungie describes as both “bespoke” and “the most rewarding public event ever”. It’s certainly more ambitious than previous Destiny public events, taking players to areas only accessible during the event and with mechanics that wouldn’t be out of place in a raid encounter. The stream shows the heroic version of the event, which gives two reward chests yielding blue gear, planetary tokens and Glimmer. While it certainly qualifies for the bespoke description for its integration with the environment, the time and effort it requires is unlikely to make it popular with players wanting an efficient way to farm resources.

At the 14 minute mark, attention turns to the Lighthouse, looking at changes made to it since Destiny and showing how to use the Forge after the main campaign to obtain a range of new Vex-influenced weapons.

Story Strikes are discussed at the 25 minute mark. Two new strikes will be added to Destiny 2 as part of the “Curse of Osiris” expansion. They will be playable solo as part of the campaign, but upscaled versions will also be accessible in a playlist with matchmaking.

At around 28 minutes, viewers get to see an example of Destiny 2’s new Heroic Adventures. These will send players into the Infinite Forest to complete objectives and will be different each time they are played.

The “Curse of Osiris” DLC for Destiny 2 will be released on December 5th.
