Dirt 4 Reveal

Following hot on heels of the recent reveal announcement, Codemasters is keen to show off the work-in-progress for the next installment in its hugely successful racing franchise, DiRT 4. The team has released five new trailers showing off some of the cars, gameplay and a new game mode from the upcoming title.

The first clip, running at just over one minute, reveals the new game mode, Landrush. Races are run on short-course circuits featuring Pro Buggies, Pro-2 Trucks, Pro-4 Trucks and Crosskart vehicles. The video features various camera angles including interior, hood and third-person views.

The remaining videos each feature an iconic rally car being put through its paces on one of the rally circuits. The cars showcased are the Peugeot 205 T16, Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI, Ford Fiesta R5 and the Subaru WRX STI NR4. Again each video shows the different camera angles possible while racing and also reveals how the audio will sound, both inside and outside of the cars. Even though all of the videos are marked as work-in-progress, it clearly shows that the game is shaping up very nicely.

Dirt 4 will be hitting the Xbox One console on June 9th, 2017.

I would like to try this game

I loved Dirt:Showdown on the 360. That was the last driving game I played before purchasing FH:3 this month.
Would be cool to demo or beta this game.

DiRT 4 will be racing onto the Xbox store in a little over a month’s time, and today Codemasters has released a brand new trailer that aims to showcase the breadth of off-road racing the game will offer.

Featuring over 50 vehicles ranging from the history of the sport to the current day, five rally locations that can be customised and tailored to an almost infinite number of ways using the new Your Stage system, and two different handling models to help suit any skill level, DiRT 4 is challenging you to be fearless once you get behind the wheel.

Details of the game’s soundtrack have also been revealed. The trailer features the song “Instigators” by Grace Porter, just one of the 40+ licensed tracks that Codemasters has put together with Globe, Universal Music UK’s in-house sync team, to help match DiRT 4’s “unique style and tone”. Other artists confirmed for the soundtrack include The Amazons, Sigma, Freak and Pretty Vicious, alongside tracks from The Chemical Brothers, Disclosure, Queens Of The Stone Age and Bastille.

DiRT 4 will be available on June 6th in North America, June 8th in Europe and on June 9th in the UK.

Codemasters Releases New Details on DiRT 4

If you’re thankful for the handling assists on DiRT Rally, you’ll be happy to know that these will be kept for DiRT 4, but what Codemasters really wanted to talk about on their blog post were the two new handling modes to which such assists can be applied: Gamer and Simulation.

But before we get to that, here’s a new clip of the Chief Game Designer playing at Loheac:

While the Simulation mode aims to be faithful to DiRT Rally’s, it was tweaked and the aerodynamics should be where the main tweaks reside. Codemasters didn’t want to get into details on what are the differences between the modes but assures us that the Gamer model is not just straight up extra assists since assists can be applied to both modes.

DiRT 4 aims to add appeal to both modes, by making either the AI more challenging or the time challenges sharper.

One of the new assists presented in DiRT 4 will be the Off-Throttle Braking assist that will simply start applying the breaks when the throttle is let go of, especially useful for drivers that decelerate before corners.

DiRT 4 is releasing on June 9th on Xbox One.
