Division 2 Exotics and how to get them

For those wanting to know how to get the current exotics in Division 2. Some are easier to get than others while some are pure RNG drops like the AR which isn’t listed here. You would get that from the Raid and it can drop from any of the bosses. @DivisionPlayers

In this quick guide, we’ll detail all of the currently available Division 2 Exotic weapons, and how to obtain them.

Lullaby And Sweet Dreams Exotic Shotguns

Love them or hate them, pre-order incentives are still a popular tactic for game publishers looking to have a strong launch, and that’s exactly what The Division 2’s Lullaby Exotic shotgun is. Those who pre-ordered The Division 2 should have a low-level version of the Lullaby waiting in their character stash. The weapon can also be upgraded using crafting materials to make a more endgame-viable version.

Thankfully, Ubisoft anticipated the backlash of locking an Exotic weapon behind a pre-order bonus, so it also implemented an alternative Exotic shotgun called Sweet Dreams. The bad news, though, is that there’s no guaranteed method for obtaining Sweet Dreams. The weapon has a chance of dropping from named Outcast bosses, so the best method for finding it is by running Outcast missions and the Roosevelt Island Stronghold.

Ruthless And Merciless Rifles

Ubisoft utilized a similar tactic for the implementation of The Division 2’s Ruthless and Merciless Exotic rifles. Currently, the only way to obtain Ruthless is by purchasing The Division 2’s Ultimate Edition. Like the Lullaby shotgun, Ruthless can be upgraded later on if you take to the weapon and want to use it during your endgame excursions.

Those who aren’t eligible for Ruthless can instead pursue its close cousin, the Merciless rifle. Like the Sweet Dreams shotgun, Merciless is a purely luck-based drop, though it only drops from named Hyena bosses, so you can focus on Hyena missions and the District Union Arena Stronghold.

Chatterbox SMG

Similar to the Sweet Dreams shotgun and Merciless rifle, the Chatterbox Exotic SMG is a luck-based world drop. However, instead of named bosses, the Chatterbox has a chance of dropping whenever you open a faction-specific chest. Be sure to consult our Division 2 keys guide where we explain how you can find the necessary keys for opening faction chests.

Pestilence LMG

The Pestilence LMG is one of the two new Exotics that was added in alongside The Division 2’s recently deployed Tidal Basin update. It’s also yet another luck-based world drop, though it drops in a noticeably different part of the game than the Chatterbox, Sweet Dreams, and Merciless.

Whereas the Chatterbox, Merciless, and Sweet Dreams Exotic weapons are found via purely PvE means, Pestilence instead has a chance of dropping in The Division 2’s three PvPvE Dark Zone areas. Specifically, Pestilence can drop whenever you kill a named Elite tier enemy in the Dark Zone. The most consistent method for finding Elites is by clearing Dark Zone landmarks, just keep an eye out for rogue agents looking to jump you while you’re distracted.

Also, since it’s the Dark Zone, Pestilence can potentially drop as a contaminated item, which means you need to extract it via chopper before you can use it. Make sure the area is safe before starting the extraction process, since all nearby players will be alerted and could come to try and take your spoils.

Nemesis Sniper Rifle

The good news is that, unlike the previous Exotics, the Nemesis sniper rifle isn’t a random drop. However, the bad news is that unlocking Nemesis requires completing a lengthy series of steps, one of which will take at least a few weeks to finish.

To begin the Nemesis unlock process, you’ll have to first work through The Division 2’s endgame World Tiers system until you complete the Tidal Basin Stronghold, thus unlocking World Tier 5. Next, you’ll have to go through the entire Invaded Mission series a second time so that you unlock the World Tier 5 version of Tidal Basin.

Load up the World Tier 5 version of Tidal Basin, and proceed through until you reach the area where you need to plug ISAC into a laptop. In this same area is a multi-floor building, and on the top floor is a bedroom containing a unique Black Tusk keycard. Once you have the keycard, keep going through the mission until you enter the large Black Tusk hovercraft towards the end.

Inside the hovercraft’s main loading bay is a door you can open using the keycard. Behind the door is a crate containing a unique High-End weapon: the Adrestia SR1sniper rifle. Deconstruct the Adrestia SR1 and you’ll receive a scope called The Tally, the first of four weapon components needed to craft Nemesis.

For the remaining three components, you’ll need to kill the final bosses in The Division 2’s other three Strongholds. Unfortunately, only one Stronghold is available each week, so you’ll need a minimum of three weeks to gather the remaining components. Once you have all the components, you can craft Nemesis at your home base workbench.

Liberty Pistol

Like the Nemesis sniper rifle, the Liberty Exotic pistol trades out a random drop method for an involved and intricate quest chain. If you’ve reached The Division 2’s endgame, chances are you have already begun the process of obtaining Liberty, you just might not realize it.

Towards the end of the Capitol Building Stronghold, you have to fight a boss named Kendra. Upon death, Kendra drops an Exotic weapon component called the Pistol Trigger Mechanism, and picking it up adds the Liberty crafting project to your project menu. As the project notes, you’ll need to gather three additional components by killing the final bosses in the following missions:

  • Space Administration HQ
  • American History Museum
  • Viewpoint Museum

Along with the four Exotic components, you’ll also need some standard crafting materials. Make sure you save up at least 45 Receiver Components, 15 Carbon Fiber, and 19 Polycarbonate. Lastly, you’ll need a High-End D50 pistol, so be careful when deconstructing any High-End sidearms you find. Once you have everything, you can craft Liberty at your workbench.
