EA: Star Wars Battlefront 'May Not Have the Depth' Experienced Gamers Want

EA isn’t stupid. They spent a lot of money to get this license. With this game particularly, they want to hook kids. New movie, new fans. I want to the the Action game they’re working on at… Visceral? And i’m sure there is a 3rd AAA property they have in the works.

Electronic Arts’ CFO Blake Jorgensen has acknowledged that Star Wars Battlefront “may not have the depth” experienced players want in the sci-fi shooter.

Talking at the Nasdaq Investor Conference in Europe, Jorgensen said that the game was intentionally designed to be accessible for those new to first-person shooter games, or kids wanting to play with their parents.

“Star Wars Battlefront is a first-person shooter, but it is [one of] the only teen-rated first-person shooters,” said Jorgensen. "We had designed it to be a much more accessible product to a wide age group.

"So, an 8-year-old could play with his father on the couch, as well as a teenager or 20-year-old could play the game and enjoy it. It is more accessible.

“And for the hardcore, it may not have the depth that they wanted in the game.”

Is that a bad thing? Shouldn’t there be some shooters that are more accessible? Or will that upset Reddit because something was made for the “filthy casuals”?
