Game just went gold, so will be hitting the shelves on Feb. 10th for certain now. I played the Big Alpha and had a good time with it and am looking for the beta later this week. However, the game screams for a good group of 4 people with coordination to do well. Without some people here to game with…will have to be a pass. So, anyone tempted w/ the L4D-style of game, but on an alien world with a huge ass monster to hunt?
seems like its a good rental… dunno about $60, which platform you getting it for?
I think it’s a hard sell. I probably will pass as I have The Order in February.
that statement doesnt even make sense…
Why the fight? OWN BOTH!
Yep, 360 & X1
Not sure about this one. I’ll wait to see what the initial reviews and impression are before deciding.
Hardline and Siege for me. I’m interested in H5 and The Division as well though. Dying Light maybe. That’s out at the end of the month. I want to see some first impressions/reviews before I commit.
I see Evolve compared to the play from L4D, which I played the shit out of. I’m not feeling Evolve right now unless it’s free. I’ve been waiting for Dying Light, that’s one I will look into.
Still waiting for an official L4D3 announcement.
I was thinking about getting this, but they’re already telling me that everything I want is going to cost me more cash after I buy the disc unless I buy the seson pass, and that’s just not cool.
With the beta for the upcoming Evolve getting detailed, developer Turtle Rock Studios has now put their efforts toward revealing what a pre-order of the game will net eager gamers. Before we get into those details, however, it’s important that we cover the other bit of new Evolve news. This news would be the reveal of the game’s fourth monster:
Behemoth.
Behemoth, as it turns out, is huge. The development team even notes that he was “literally made as large as we could make him.” Due to his massive size, he cannot leap or jump, but he can navigate the game’s environments by rolling like a boulder. He can climb, too, but slowly.
The Behemoth is more than just a powerful punch, too, as he comes loaded with special skills:
Lava Bombs:
Effective at short and long range, these mortar bombs shatter into fragments and continue to burn the area around them, including any Hunters who find themselves in the damage radius.
Rock Wall:
Creates a large, semi-circular rock structure that either traps victims inside with Behemoth, or locks him away from attackers.
Tongue Grab: Behemoth uses his harpoon-like tongue to snatch a distant target and pull it into melee.
Fissure: A wave of destruction blasts out of Behemoth, fracturing the terrain and scalding and stunning everything in its path. While he may seem near impossible for hunters to take down, there is a way. The Behemoth’s size may be his biggest asset, but it also makes him a large target. Also, as noted above, climbing is a slow process for the Behemoth, thus leaving him prone to attacks.
How does one access the Behemoth? By purchasing him. If you’ve pre-ordered either Evolve or the Evolve Digital Deluxe Edition, they will include the “Monster Expansion Pack” for free. This pack includes the Behemoth and the Savage Goliath Skin. It will be released sometime this Spring. Behemoth can be purchased separately for $14.99 or regional equivalent.
The Evolve Digital Deluxe Edition will include the game’s “Evolve Hunting Season Pass” and cost $79.99 or regional equivalent. The Season Pass, which can be purchased separately from the Digital Deluxe Edition for $24.99 or regional equivalent, includes the following:
-
Includes four new playable Hunter characters available this spring, one in each class: Assault, Trapper, Medic, and Support
-
Includes three Monster skins at launch, exclusive to the Evolve Hunting Season Pass: Magma Goliath, Magma Kraken, and Magma Wraith.
Each individual hunter can be purchased for $7.49. The Season Pass does NOT include Behemoth as that’s part of a separate expansion.
You can pre-load the beta right now, and those of you who pre-order the game
digitally may also begin your pre-loads. If you just can’t stand the wait for the beta to start on January 15th, why not watch the intro cinematic again to tide you over?
Evolve is set for release on February 10th, 2015.
More and more I’m hearing about the game across the web and the lackluster feelings here, the more I feel like passing on it and just waiting for Hardline in March. Probably the route I’ll go…
I think playing with 5 people is fun if you knew each other, but I think playing this in the wild would be a complete nightmare.
No.
And L4D is one of my all time favorite games. Just check out my avatar to prove my point.
thats how i felt in the beta
Played the Beta tonight. It’s not for me. Glad I didn’t pre-order.
I’m passing on it. It doesn’t really appeal to me and with all the releases around it I have no time for it.
Got it, love it. Anyone else in xb1 have it???
