F1 2017 Races onto the Xbox One this August

Codemasters and Koch Media has today announced that F1 2017 will be racing onto the Xbox One this August, with the return of classic F1 cars, a deeper career mode, several multiplayer enhancements and a new Championship game mode.

To mark the announcement, Codemasters released the game’s debut trailer that showcases three of the planned 12 classic F1 cars that will appear in the game — “the 1988 McLaren MP4/4 as driven by Alain Prost and Ayrton Senna, the 1992 Williams FW14B that was raced by Nigel Mansell and Riccardo Patrese and the 2002 Ferrari F2002 of Rubens Barrichello and Michael Schumacher.”

The inclusion of classic F1 cars in the series isn’t a new concept as they appeared previously in F1 2013, but this time around they’ve been fully integrated into the main career mode as “modern day, invitational events” that players will be invited to attend throughout the course of the season. The historic cars will also be available to race in online multiplayer, time trials and other game modes.

There will also be more variety than ever before, with Lee Mather, the game’s Creative Director, stating that circuits will have four alternative layouts, along with “numerous new gameplay types.”

Eleven of the historic F1 cars will be available in all editions of the game; however, players who want to get behind the wheel of the 1988 McLaren MP4/4 will have to pre-order or purchase the game on day one as part of the F1 2017 Special Edition. Alternatively, it will be available to purchase as a standalone item at a later date.

F1 2017 will release worldwide on August 25th.
