First play session starts on Tuesday. I will have a party running as a hub to join others. If you can’t find anyone to play with jump in my party and we will try to fix that. I am going to try and play the whole time period but will at least play to 10 pm.
I already have had 2x 48 GB installs. I know this cause I watched them both install. If you haven’t gotten a 2nd install of 48 GB I would suggest starting the game and see if one kicks off so you aren’t trying to do it at 7.
So much fun tonight @Xionergy@EnyoBellona and Kaiju Oji aka SirFlooflePants. I hope every one enjoyed it as much as we did. The frame rate can can get rough briefly at times but the fun is there 100%. It’s Fallout with your friends.
Throughout the 4 hrs…I think each one of us was d/c’ed from the server at least once. When that happened loading back in…and onto the team was simple and quick. I didn’t see any lag during my play through and the map was full of players.
Being able to run around with fellow members added to much of the enjoyment to the gameplay. There are no distance restraints that we saw and you could ‘Fast Travel’ to members of your team. Much the gameplay was similar to FO4…as far as crafting, savaging, etc. The Food and Thrist elements were interesting…I am not sure yet if I would consider them annoying, but they do add a different element to the Fallout Franchise. It seemed for me I was pretty consistently thirsty…so gathering the resources and making water was a must. But it definitely did not ruin the game play.
There were ‘events’ that somewhat consistently launching off and kept you engaged if you choose to do them. I can see how they can keep you with the ability to randomize your experiences.
Crafting as I said was very similar to FO4. You could craft and modify your armor and weapons. Hell we even found some Power Armor that was locked away behind a terminal, but we cracked the code. Unfortunately none of us had the skill level to use the gear with the armor plates on it, so we had to strip it. Then D1g1tal discovered that you could ‘collect’ the armor.
I launch the ‘CAMP’ building mode…again…similar to FO4 but now just more diverse. It cost 5 caps each time you wanted to move your camp, but the game seemed to give us 5 caps every now and then. None of kept track of how often it did.
Overall the experience was enjoyable…we ran into other players…and laughed about stupid shit…like how we realized that we spent 2 hrs in just a small…very small part of the map. If anything for the 4 of us that were grouped tonight…This not only was a positive experience, but it was definitely said along the lines…that we cant wait to get more game time in…The 4hr test only made us wanna play more.
I for one, at least at the moment…have nothing negative to say about Fallout 76. Nothing but praises here.
I believe this game is definitely meant for group play. I was solo for the first 2 hours and was having a blast until started venturing further away from starting point.
I’m talking about having 10-15 scorch running at you and chasing non-stop until I finally gun bashed the last one after ran out of ammo. Yell out loud moments like that happen more than once, as feral ghouls would randomly beat on me as I tried to check my inventory.
My character was thirsty all the time, which was quite annoying. The last half I teamed up with some random and was much more fun. I swam around in radiated water until I got the mutation Carnivore. Allowed me to eat meat, no vegetables, and receive 2x the effects.
I think it was a mixed bag test for me. I was really overwhelmed by all the shit to do, all the quests. I believe there is an adjustment period.
