Fortnite 22.10 update release date & server downtime

The Fortnite 22.10 patch will drop on Tuesday, October 4 at 1 AM PT / 4 AM ET / 9 AM BST, as Epic try to release their updates when the least amount of players will be affected.

Matchmaking will be disabled 30 minutes before the update is scheduled to roll out, and the servers will be offline for around an hour while the changes take effect.

What to expect in Fortnite update 22.10

The devs are yet to confirm exactly what will be in the 22.10 update, but a handful of leaks could give players a clearer idea of what to expect.

Well-known Fortnite leaker HYPEX claimed that the chrome covering the right-hand side of the map is likely to spread even further, completely changing a number of popular POIs. They also hinted that new weapons could be on the way, such as a Goo Gun or Cobra DMR.

There have been rumors that a Star Wars Luke Skywalker skin is on the way to cash in on the release of the Andor series on Disney Plus. So, there’s every chance that update 22.10 will see the character make his long-awaited debut, but this could also happen later in the season.

While Fortnitemares 2022 is scheduled to get underway on October 16, the devs could use the patch to start teasing the event and leaving clues around the map.

There will also be the usual array of bug fixes and balancing changes, with HYPEX anticipating that Boogie Bombs will be vaulted.

  • Storm notifications may appear lower than normal
  • Reboot card may sink if eliminated in water
  • Sime trees under the Chrome effect look angular
  • Sliding can cause flashing colors to appear while pointing the camera downwards
  • Phasing through Chrome areas at Heralds Sanctum
  • Fire VFX appears to last on Chrome building pieces
  • VFX can persist after being eliminated in the vortex
