Fortnite Will Add an Undo Purchase Button in a Future Update

When it comes to making in-game purchases, most players try to be as careful as they can to make sure they don’t buy something they don’t actually want. However, it seems like there are still plenty of Fortnite players who manage to buy cosmetics and battle tiers they don’t actually want. Epic Games had previously tried to remedy this by adding a token system, but this doesn’t seem to be working terribly well. Now the developer has revealed they’ll be introducing an “undo” button to the store page in a future update.

Players have a fixed number of lifetime refund tokens. These tokens allow players to submit a refund request for any item they’ve unintentionally purchased with V-bucks within the last 30 days, with the exception of consumables such as loot boxes and Battle Pass tiers. Once those tokens were used, no more refunds would be granted. The new “undo” button will allow players to undo purchases made within the last five minutes as long as they haven’t started a match since the purchase was made. The button will work alongside the existing token system, and using the button will not use up a refund token. Epic has stated they “neither want to add friction for players nor do we want to benefit from accidental purchases or players regretting a purchase”, hence the new system.

There’s no indication for when the button will be added, but today’s patch, the second part of v8.10, still added a range of new content and gameplay improvements for all three areas of the game. Battle Royale players received a new vehicle in the form of the hamster ball-like Baller, vending machines that dispense single items free of charge, cross-play matchmaking between Xbox One and PS4 players (Switch players are no longer matched here), and a new The Getaway Limited Time Mode. Meanwhile, Save the World players got a returning Staredown Southie hero and more Beta Storms, and Creative players received new exotic island locations and new game rule options. You can check out the full list of changes and improvements in the game’s patch notes.

The new v8.10 patch is available now. We’ll let you know as soon as we hear more about the undo button.
