Halo 15th Anniversary Teaser

Tuesday, November 15th will be the 15th anniversary of the prolific Halo franchise, a series that holds a special place in the hearts of many now twenty-and-thirty-somethings worldwide. Along with hosting a Twitch stream on the 15th at 3:43 p.m. PST, 343 Studios will be adding an anniversary playlist to Halo 5: Guardians, offering giveaways for viewers, showing a walkthrough of the Halo Museum, and previewing upcoming content for Halo 5.

The Halo 5 “Anniversary Throwback” playlist will feature classic Halo: Combat Evolved maps that have been remade in Forge and will include the lethal Combat Evolved pistol. According to 343, some of them are community creations. 343 writes, “This is Halo 5 gameplay on sweet Forge re-creations of classic maps with the Halo: CE pistol as the starting weapon.”

While in a blog post 343 reflects on the 15th anniversary of Halo: Combat Evolved and the 12th anniversary of Halo 2, curiously left out of the equation is the 9th anniversary of one of the series’ most heralded titles, Halo 3, which recently passed. Some users are speculating there may be an announcement for Halo 3 to receive an anniversary edition when it celebrates the big 10 next year, since Halo: Combat Evolved received a 10th anniversary edition and Halo: The Master Chief Collection released within days of Halo 2’s 10th anniversary, featuring an updated version of the 2004 title. Some fans are saying this is unlikely due to the Master Chief Collection releasing just over two years ago; others are saying it makes sense to honor Halo 3 properly due to the botched and buggy launch of the collection and its graveyard player counts in recent times. Not to mention, it’d be able to launch conveniently alongside the Scorpio console, which is due out sometime during holiday 2017.

Even without a remaster announcement, players can expect a day honoring the Halo series and a look at what’s on the menu for Halo 5, which has previously been said to include more Warzone Firefight
