So the Metal Gear: Survive beta dropped yesterday and I gave it a try. It was alright. Metal Gear 5 style controls, with a bunch of crafting and horde mode style mechanics. Not a big fan of crafting/survival games.
Only played 2 or 3 missions because SOOOO much time is spent in the main “lobby world” getting ready for the next mission. Played with 2 other friends. Not sure if the limit is 2 or 3 friends.
You craft everything. Even individual bullets, with materials you pick up during missions. Wood, nails, copper…etc.
The horde mode style gameplay can get rough and overwhelming especially if you’re not sure how everything works, or didn’t craft enough stuff to help you survive.
The enemies are weird zombie-like monsters. Dead bodies that have been infected by some kind of dark energy from another dimension.
You can customize your characters look, facial features and all that, even voice style. Graphics are on par with Metal Gear 5 if not toned down slightly for the online style play.
Probably won’t bother picking it up at launch, but it may entice some for the $39.99 price tag. Though no telling how Konami is going to further monetize the game.
