The world just got a lot smaller, at least for players looking to see it all in Microsoft Flight Simulator.
World Update II: USA is out today, with plenty more for players to explore as they hit the friendly skies. It lets pilots check out the good ol’ US of A with an improved digital elevation model with resolution up to one meter, new aerial textures to improve individual state appearances, and four new airports in Atlanta, Dallas/Fort Worth, Friday Harbor, and New York.
The other 48 airports across the country also got an upgrade in terms of the visuals department, with 50 additional high-fidelity points of interest that you can fly over along the way. That should give you plenty of reasons to make a detour in your flight plan, after all, especially since there’s so much to be seen flying over the States.
You can even make something of a tour of it, with a Discovery Flight through areas found scattered throughout the eastern seaboard. You can then change course and check out the Alaskan wilderness for an additional curated journey.
Sound like a plan or a dream come true? You can pick up World Update II: USA for free right now via the in-game Marketplace. Since we’re all essentially stuck at home for the holidays, for many of us, this will have to do instead of a real flight.
