The original Tomb Raider
reboot was a story about survival and less about raiding tombs. Lara
Croft underwent a perilous journey that seemingly would make her the
stronger and more self-reliant character that we were familiar with. In
its sequel, Rise of the Tomb Raider,
expectations are high as to the hopes that Lara will finally become
this lack-lustered yet dedicated woman, ready to face any danger
necessary to retrieve a long lost artifact or explore a hidden
civilization.
From last week’s tid-bits of gameplay
that were previewed at E3 to this week’s video of Lara hiking the
wintery mountains of Siberia, we can surmise that this next chapter will
involve a lot of tactful survival as well. Take a look at the video to
see Lara attacking enemies, outrunning a bear and ending with a tease
of some actual tomb raiding.
Rise of the Tomb Raider will raid your Xbox One and Xbox 360 on November 10th.
Day one purchase for me. Loved the latest reboot for the series, and the IP takes me waaaay back to the early days of console gaming (excluding the Atari 2600 / Colecovision / etc. times).
Fresh out of Gamescom this week is a brand new gameplay trailer for Rise of the Tomb Raider.
In this extended trailer, we see our famous heroine uncover a lost tomb in the Middle East while following her father’s audio tapes. After making her way inside, Lara doesn’t have long to explore before her
assailants catch up, and the tomb begins to collapse around her. The action packed sequence is as dramatic as any that we’ve come to expect with the relaunch of the franchise. Check out the video below:
Rise of the Tomb Raider is coming to Xbox One and Xbox 360 on November 10th, 2015. The game will also see a Windows 10 release in early 2016. Let us know if you’ll be getting this on day one!
