Blind Eye
Undetectable by scorestreaks and tracking systems except the UAV.
Ghost
Enemy UAV’s can’t detect you while moving, planting or defusing bombs, or controlling a Scorestreak. If you stop moving, you’ll show up on the enemy radar.
I totally missed the fact that Blind Eye does not work on UAVs. Ghosts will make you invisible to UAVs but only while moving. Campers / people standing still will show. Wow.
I don’t recall seeing it on the beta. I looked at the descriptions when first equipping, but I was looking between matches. I don’t recall the UAV exception on Blind Eye at all. I never did equip Ghost, so I can’t recall what that said.
I don’t think it said it either. But there was another CoD that did this same thing, probably black ops 2. I personally don’t mind it, I was struggling to find a perk in group 3 that I just had to have. Ghost wasn’t unlocked until higher level than the cap was in beta, btw.
That’s how I’m understanding it. Snipers get left out in the cold, unless you snipe on the run. I like doing that anyways, the kills are more satisfying.
The main thing I don’t like about this is it caters to the mindset there is a “right” way to play these games vs a “wrong” way. The only wrong way to play a game is to perform some sort of hack that compromises the game/code. I’m tired of people that get on their high horse (see: Reddit) and complain that just because you’re using a mechanic in the game that the developer coded, you’re not playing it right because that’s not how someone else would play it. These adjustments in the perks seem like Treyarch is catering to those against camping.
As far as moving around while sniping, how many snipers have you seen that move unless they’ve been spotted?
I’m not a fan of that tactic. If they want to discourage camping, make adjustments to the maps to make it harder. Don’t give Timmy some overpowered perk he can spam to compensate.
The bottom line is you can’t please everyone. I like that they are trying to shake things up a bit. I don’t camp, so this won’t affect me much at all. Plus having the second perk really makes you think harder about attachments, nades, and other perks.
Like Texas said, you can’t please everyone. But I don’t like being forced into movement or be penalized. I’m not a camper but there are plenty of times when there is a strategic advantage to staying still to cover a choke point. These perks are not gonna put you at a huge disadvantage but I do think it’s the intent behind it. It’s not everyone’s style to run and gun but it feels that’s the direction you will be forced to. Also, the maps will really determine the affect all this will have.
I didn’t notice it in the beta as far as doing a few hide/camp spots for one kill then moving on.
It’s probably a good thing when I think specifically about some maps from the past on Hardcore with camping snipers in trees like Instinct. I don’t see a problem with camping a choke point, that’s strategic not trolling.
Surprised it hasn’t been said - shoot down the UAVs. Was my experience in the beta that they were easier to see, target and eliminate than any other COD I’ve played…
