Codemasters, the team behind countless popular racing series, is gearing up to release its newest IP, ONRUSH. If you haven’t caught wind of the game yet, don’t worry. Today’s info drop is a great jumping-on point. If you’d like to see the game in action before you learn more, the new trailer, called “The Stampede is Coming,” does well to paint a picture of the game’s madness.
ONRUSH will feature eight vehicle classes, each with their own handling and abilities: Blade, Outlaw, Vortex, Charger, Interceptor, Dynamo, Titan, and Enforcer. Early details on the game seem to indicate it’ll be a team and class-based online racer, which is something new for the genre. If you’re looking to rough up opponents and do maximum damage, you’ll have a car tailored to that (we’re guessing that’s the Enforcer class). Likewise, whether you want to speed past opponents, lend support to teammates, or focus on a number of other playstyles, they’re all meant to be options for you in the game. In certain online races you can swap out your vehicle class for another if you wish. ONRUSH will not offer split-screen modes but hopes to instead make the game “the most exhilarating online multiplayer experience possible!”
Vehicle customization is meant to be another focal point, and the team at Codemasters has teamed up with UK-based artist collective AnyForty to design the game’s promised wealth of customization options.
The most exciting news for those wanting to get their hands on the game is that you can do so ahead of the June launch date. The start and end dates have not yet been shared but Codemasters has announced an open beta will go live in May.
On the three points of vehicle classes, customization, and the open beta, the studio promises to share a lot more in the coming weeks. ONRUSH arrives in stores on June 5th.
