Explain owning cars to me. I take it I can’t just steal cars and own them. The good ones are pricey as all fuck.
I currently own a Ocelot Coupe F620, this was the car I got at the beginning of the game. Is it worthwhile to even upgrade? Or would I be better off saving up for a new car? Also, I see some unlocks are only attainable via races. That’s going to suck ass.

You will unlock a ton of shit as you level up. I have put a ton on money into cars that I ended up not keeping. Wish I would have waited. You do get some of that money back when you sale the car.
I have 1 garage full of nothing but stolen muscle cars all souped up. So you can go the route of stealing the ones you like minus the more expensive super cars and such.
I think if you steal them and park them in the garage you automatically get a tracker on them, but not insurance. Not 100% on that. Insurance is important because it covers explosions etc. and makes it easy to get your cars back.
Don’t pay to have your cars repaired unless you have to. Drive them into your garage for free repairs. You pay a weekly home and mechanic fee that covers it.
Some of the cars on the “Used” car website can be stolen. So just because they are for sale doesn’t mean that can’t be stolen.
Running missions with Pugs really made me want a super car. They’d jet off to the objective and leave me in the dust. The speed of those cars is amazing.
I guess I got confused one time when I stole a car and tried to pull in to my garage and it wouldn’t let me.
If you have a wanted level, you can’t park in your garage. You have to evade the cops to lose the level, then you can get into the garage.
I’ve found it’s easiest to either steal a car parked somewhere quiet, or to carjack in a quieter neighborhood or on the more rural areas. You have less of a chance to rack up a wanted level.
I don’t think I had a wanted level when I tried to park it but maybe I didn’t notice.
If it is a car you have to purchase you wouldn’t be able to enter either.

I don’t know what the hell I am doing. I grabbed a car by smashing the window and it wouldn’t let me in the garage.
So far I haven’t fully cared about collecting cars since I just randomly steal one when I want to go for a ride.
I don’t know. I’ve done the smash and grab before, and the only time it didn’t let me in was when I was being chased by cops. It was a more common car, so it wasn’t one that required purchase.
Maybe it was a car that I would have to purchase.
The only reason I give a shit about owning a car is just to keep up with random players. You’ll never be able to keep up in a stock base car.
most of the cars can be found in the real world. Some cars were onnly availble in the world and not for sale, but thats changed since they kept adding new cars with patches. sometimes when you steal a car the mechanic will say “that car is too hot” which means you have to buy it.
eventually you’ll get to the point where you just wanna blow money. I have one super car from when i was playing on 360. can’t remember if i glitched it from a mission or if i actually spent that much money on it.
theres plenty of sites that have all the ratings of the cars so you know which ones you might like over others.
I have like 14 cars or something: 2 motorcycles, one suburban (holds 8 ppl) one hot rod pickup, one Subaru WRX (can’t be bought), My skyline from the collectors edition, one sand king cuz why not, one sanchez motorcyle for racing, (so actually 3 total), think the other cars are just random. havent played in awhile.
So it looks like I’m going to have to setup some boosting nights. The engine, turbo, brakes and transmission upgrades (maybe more) are only unlockable by winning races. That’s 1st place in a MP room. Some upgrades need 40+ wins. Le Fuck that. That’s just insane. Who ever thought that was a good idea? And did they not think it would lead to boosting?
Anyway, with the way I drive I’ll never win one race. Let alone having to deal with already customized cars. Anyone want to trade wins on a few races? I think there’s a few real short tracks. It has to only be a win. 1 lap race is fine.
My second car. It was free. It’s quick and drives nice.

that was exclusive to collecters initially and it one of my favorite cars.
Let’s face it…if we’re looking to trade wins, then people are going to be taking a dive for me to get a win in a street race.
I think the requirements for the upgrades is just retarded. Seriously, 40 races is enough of a commitment. 40 wins? lol, that’s cray cray.
i dunno i thought they were pretty easy. races go quick. especially doing the 1 lap ones.
also if i remember correctly i’m pretty sure people can start a race by themselves and win… dunno if they patches that. so host a race and start it. the prison loop was really popular
