Permanent XP Boost Added to Gears of War: Ultimate Edition

It’s a Gears of War tradition to hand out crazy XP boosts before the newest title launches. Many of us remember insane x25 events in Gears of War 2 and a huge permanent XP boost made active in Gears of War 3. This week, though not as extreme, such is the case with Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, which has received permanent XP boosts in all of its playlists in preparation for Gears of War 4.

Hey Marcus, did you hear about the XP boost?

The changes are as follows, with most playlists being doubled, except for
Assassination, which is receiving a quadruple XP bonus:

All playlists - except Assassination - are now permanently Double XP from their previous values
Assassination now offers 4x XP permanently

The Coalition has also confirmed that all of the doubling has been applied with no exceptions. For example, Execution already gave a heavily-increased XP rate compared to something like Team Deathmatch, so this already-increased total was then doubled with the permanent boost.

The developers have also already announced a week-long double XP event from September 28th - October 5th. Meaning that yes, those double XP playlists will become quadruple XP, and Assassination will be offering up 8x experience. That’s a ways off though; we’ll remind you about that one again the week of the event.

As for Gears of War: Ultimate Edition (Win 10), these updates were for the Xbox One version only and the Windows 10 version will remain unchanged. However, The Coalition has stated that
the Windows 10 playlists are already operating at an increased XP level compared to the Xbox One version, so playing on Windows is not without its own benefits.

There are also a few miscellaneous changes to the playlists:

One Shot One Kill is now a permanent social playlist
eSports Execution has now been changed to Classic: Execution permanently
