PlayStation and Xbox Stores says Modern Warfare to support up to 20 players online

With the listings of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare on PlayStation Store and Xbox Store, a new piece of information has been revealed that could suggest a larger sized multiplayer mode coming in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

Both the Xbox One Store and the PlayStation 4 Store state that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will support ‘2-20 Online Players.’

Here’s what the Xbox One store says online:

And here’s what the PlayStation Store says:

Both say the same thing: 2-20 players online. This could hint that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will have a MP mode that has a higher player count, with 20 players total online in a single mode. It could be a sort of 10v10 mode or other variations depending on what Infinity Ward may be planning.

Activision has not revealed specific multiplayer details for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare yet. The company did confirm two things about MP: cross play will be supported and post launch maps will be free. Beyond that, there’s no gameplay or features announced as of now.

Doesn’t say cross platform. Just 20max which was 2 more than the old school war, which was 9v9

“cross play will be supported”

The word is cross platform will be a thing . Xbox and Playstation will be able to play with each other. This will make clan night a thing again especially since we can do 10 vs 10 in private matches .

This will be a blast! And the tourneys we could have across the board will be tons of fun! I would’ve likely picked it up anyway but this is just more incentive to do so.

Apparently, it’s going to be similar to how Fortnite does crossplay. You can select to play cross or not, PC or console.

Whatever… I only skimmed the post. Big question will then be about comms? Will comms be cross as well? Or will it be an xbl vs psn thing? Or will comms be incorporated into the game.

One of the biggest announces alongside the reveal of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare last week was that the game will support cross play between the platforms when it launches on October 25.

Since that announcement, there has been a lot of confusion and some inaccurate information about how exactly matchmaking will work with cross play. An Infinity Ward developer on Twitter has shared a link to a Forbes’ article to describe how exactly cross play will work in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

Cross Play will work in this game similar to that of Fortnite. Players will be matched with other players across PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC that have similar input devices (using controllers). Cross Play will work between PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, and if you are using a controller, you will be placed in lobbies with players using controllers.

And, similar to cross play games like Fortnite, in Modern Warfare, if you are on PS4 or Xbox One and team up with a player on PC using a keyboard and mouse, you will then be placed in lobbies with all players — regardless of input devices.

Here’s how Forbes describes it:

Fortnite-style “input matchmaking” will help avoid PC players stomping everyone, as is a common concern. You match with other players with your style of input, controller or M+K, and only go “out of your league” if you’re partied with a PC friend on console, which will get you into mainly PC games .

Activision’s official press release announcing the game only mentioned that “we plan for Modern Warfare to be played together across PC and console through cross-play support” but did not provide specifics exactly.

This is all subject to change as launch on October 25 approaches, so stay tuned.
