Project Cars 2 promises over 170 licensed cars and is expected to be released later this year.

Hopes it better than the first cause it sucked on Xbox. I think it did better on PC.

Slightly Mad Studios has announced another three cars for their upcoming game, Project CARS 2, focusing on international motorsport regulations GT3. The BMW M6 GT3, McLaren 650S GT3 and the Audi R8 LMS GT3 will all be drivable in-game.

In the real world, GT3 is renowned for its accessibility, competition, affordability (in terms of international motorsport, at least), and most importantly, the variety. When a team is choosing which car to race, there are many factors to consider, such as price, manufacturer support, reputation, running costs and even comfort level. Luckily for us in the gaming world, we have none of that to worry about, so we can just choose which one we like. Do you prefer the whine of a turbo or a naturally aspirated V8? Mid-engine or front? Don’t like the look of the headlights? No need to spend half a million dollars buying a new car, just jump in another one! Such is the beauty of gaming.

The first of the newly announced cars is the M6 GT3, which is BMW’s latest entrant into the world of GT racing, replacing the aging Z4 GT3 (which will also appear in-game). The M6 boasts a front-mounted V8 turbo engine with 577hp, attached to a six-speed sequential gearbox. The weight is 1300kg, which is 700kg less than the road-going variant and squarely in the mid-range in terms of GT3 cars.

The GTLM version, raced in North America, will also appear.

The second of our three musketeers is the McLaren 650S GT3. The 3.8-litre M838T pushes out 495 hp and the car weighs 1400kg overall. However, don’t let that fool you, as this car currently holds the outright lap record at Mount Panorama in Bathurst, which was set by Shane Van Gisbergen at last year’s Bathurts 12 Hour, a race he then went on to win. The results speak for themselves.

Last and lightest is the Audi R8 LMS GT3, which weighs a paltry 1225kg. This is matched by a 5.2-litre V10 producing 580hp. This is delivered to the wheels by a six-speed sequential paddle shifter. While I’m sure Audi would have loved to have kept the standard all-wheel-drive configuration of the road car, rear-wheel-drive had to be brought in in order to comply with GT3 regulations. The R8 LMS GT3 starting winning right away, taking the Blancplain GT Series and the Nurburgring 24 Hour on debut. Like the McLaren, the results speak for themselves.

This new announcement brings the total of confirmed GT3 cars to appear in Project CARS 2 up to 14, with more yet to be announced. A list of revealed GT3 cars appears below.

2016 BMW M6 GT3

Project CARS 2 promises over 170 licensed cars and while it has no concrete release da

Project CARS 2 is a game that aims for authenticity, and to celebrate the contribution
that real life drivers have made towards its development, Bandai Namco have released the first of their “Built By Drivers” series.

Entitled “As Close As It Gets”, episode one is a behind-the-scenes look at how McLaren’s chief test driver Chris Goodwin and his team of engineers at McLaren Automotive have been working with developers Slightly Mad Studios. In particular, how they have helped to ensure players will get the most realistic experience of behind the wheel of their 720S supercar which doesn’t involve having to hand over more than £200,000.
