PlayStation has detailed which PS4 peripherals will be compatible with the upcoming PS5. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to use your DualShock 4 for PS5 games but can use it for “supported” PS4 titles on the console.
Over on PlayStation Blog, the company revealed which of your current peripherals will work on the new console. According to Sony, officially licensed racing wheels, arcade sticks, and flight sticks will work with PS5 games and supported PS4 games, while Platinum and Gold Wireless Headsets and third-party headsets that connect via USB or audio jack will also work on the PS5. In terms of VR, the PS Move Controllers and PS VR Aim Controller will also support PS VR games on the next-gen console. The PlayStation Camera for PS4 is compatible with PS5 but will require an adapter which PS VR users can get their hands on for free at a later date. Sony will be detailing more on the adapter and how to get them soon.
However, the DualShock 4 will only work with “supported PS4 games” and not PS5 titles. Sony’s senior director of global marketing Isabelle Tomatis gave a brief explanation why the controller won’t support PS5 games, “We believe that PS5 games should take advantage of the new capabilities and features we’re bringing to the platform, including the features of DualSense wireless controller.”
The PlayStation 5 will launch in Holiday 2020.
