Sea of Thieves Alpha Update

Those lucky to be part of the alpha test for the swashbuckling title, Sea of Thieves may be interested to know that there is a new update, 0.1.1. which promises to introduce some key new elements to the game.

First of all, the update brings some new regions and islands to the world, so players will be able to engage in a few new voyages of discovery. Naturally, such exploration comes with some new dangers and islands, both old and new, will be inhabited by the long dead remains of the previous owners in the form of maniacal, gun-toting skeletons. If treasure hunting wasn’t tough enough, it just got tougher.

There are some smaller but not insignificant changes coming too. Fall damage has been introduced, so you might want to reconsider some of the more vertical shortcuts that have been useful in the past. Finally, those pirates who are a little too keen on the old grog might want to restrain themselves a little as over imbibing promises to result in a rather visceral spewing experience.

The development team has been good enough to put together a short video which provides a little more detail of the new technical update.

Sea of Thieves is currently in an invite-only alpha for which it is still possible to sign-up for and participate. No final release date has been announced.
