Select Xbox Insiders Can Now Gift Digital Xbox One Games

According to Windows Central, the ability to gift Xbox One games to others has now begun rolling out to select members of the Xbox Insider Program. Digital gifting has been a highly requested feature from Xbox users, and now this request has come to life for some.

Microsoft are yet to officially announce that Xbox One digital game gifting is live but as you’ll see in the following screens, it appears the early stages of this feature are good to go for those running 1710 preview builds. Windows Central goes on to provide directions on gifting a game to a friend:

When navigating to the Microsoft Store (the Xbox Store was recently rebranded under this name), the option to gift products is located adjacent to the option for traditional personal purchases. Following the steps, you’ll be given the option to send a game by email address or Xbox Live Gamertag and attach a personalized name/message. The remainder of the checkout process is seemingly identical to the existing purchasing experience, allowing you to choose and payment type and complete the transaction.

For those lucky enough to be on the receiving end of the gift, you will be notified via email regardless of whether the person gifting the game chose your from their friends list or directly via email. The email will include a redeemable 25-digit pre-paid code, that can then be redeemed to any Microsoft account. Windows Central has already tested the gifting feature between themselves and had been successful in gifting and receiving a digital game

It’s unknown at the moment whether or not this is the finalised implementation of game gifting. Let us know if you have managed to gift or receive a game from any one in the comments below.
