Ok seriously. all i use this thing for is printing, scanning, and using a web browser to place orders, look at schematics, and that type of thing. I really dont think i need a new comp with more than 2gb of memory. took a screen cap with task manager… all seems normal to me. firefox spikes up someitmes but explorer and chrome use same amount of memory. ideas?? its really starting to get to me cuz sometimes it takes a minute for fox to open and then the computer lags for 5 minutes before it gets back to normal, but im still getting memory spikes.
do you have a lot of add-ons on FF. They can be the cause. FF and Chrome will definitely creep on you like that the longer you keep it open. Best is to close it and re-open after awhile.
i know i have ad-aware or ad blocker cuz of sites like IGN that just slow the thing to a crawl with all the .gifs and embedded vids… i’ll look again when i get back tomorrow.
I’ve always used avast with great results, nothing malicious has popped up.
fresh os install?? HAHAHAHAHA
i thought about wiping/resetting but since nothing is ever downloaded on the damn thing it shouldnt be necesary.
nuggets of shit?!?!? like Cling-ons?!?!?!
Use / install “ccleaner” and run that and its registry fix tool. Check for malware with malwarebytes just in case. Then, defrag your pc. You can also play around with your PC’s virtual memory settings and tone down visual effects to boost performance. But, seriously, if you’re using a 32bit OS, upgrade RAM to 4GB.
Hey, here are some of the free tools I use. Also, if you right click on the taskbar, select Properties. Turn off Aero peak at the bottom. Aero uses a lot more resources than people think.
