Stage One of PlayStation's Player Celebration event began yesterday

The first stage of PlayStation’s Player Celebration starts today, with a reward of an exclusive PS4 theme and PSN avatar for all the players who help to complete the first round of challenges.

Arguably the biggest prize in this event is the PlayStation kit with a real-life Platinum Trophy engraved with your ID, along with £75 worth of PlayStation store vouchers, and codes for a range of PlayStation hits. The requirements for this prize are different; players just have to sign up and answer a skill-based question in a few weeks on March 17th. Before that, though, we have three stages, made up of community goals and rewards for those who help to achieve them. It seems that all you have to do in this event is what you’d be doing anyway; playing games and winning trophies.

Today marks the start of stage one, where the the goal is for the community to play 125k games and win 500k trophies. There’s a few limits for these goals; only six trophies per day will count towards the goal, and each game has to be played for at least an hour — although this can count across multiple sessions, and doesn’t need to be completed in one sitting. Trophies for multiplayer games will count for double. When these goals are reached, players will be rewarded with a PS4 static theme and a PSN avatar.

PlayStation don’t give the dates for the next stages, but we do know the goals: stage two asks for 375k games to be played and 1.5 million trophies to be earned. The rewards for these will be five PSN avatar images of PlayStation exclusive characters, like Aloy from Horizon Zero Dawn. Then, for stage three , players have to play 675k games and earn 2.7 million trophies , which will reward them with an exclusive PS4 dynamic theme made from image strips from games like God of War and Uncharted. PlayStation say the rewards will arrive through the PS4 system notifications. You can also check the total for each goal here. PlayStation will apparently be announcing when the next stage begins there as well. Then, on March 17th at 11am GMT, there’ll be a skill-based question to answer for a chance to win the PlayStation kit and Platinum trophy. You have to be signed up for the Player Celebration event to answer it — you can do that here.

Stage Two of PlayStation’s Player Celebration event is now underway

PlayStation’s Player Celebration event is steaming ahead. Stage One is already finished, but Stage Two is well under way, with a reward of five PSN Avatar images for players who help to complete it.

Stage Two has two objectives: players must play 375k games and earn 1.5 million trophies. PlayStation’s page for the event shows that they’re almost there: 375k games have already been played. The Trophy goal is 52% completed, with 779,547 of the 1,500,000 Trophies already having been earned.

The reward for completing this stage are five PSN avatar images with characters like Horizon Zero Dawn’s Aloy. Since the first goal for Stage Two has already been completed, players only have to focus on getting those last Trophies. As usual, the event’s rules say that only six trophies per day will count towards the goal, but that trophies for multiplayer games will count for double.

Once Stage Two is over, the third and final stage will require players to play 675k games, and earn 2.7 million trophies, for the reward of an exclusive PS4 dynamic theme made from image strips from games like God of War and Uncharted. After that, there’ll be the skill-based question on March 17th at 11am GMT, with the chance to win a PlayStation kit containing a real-life Platinum trophy with your PSN ID engraved on it. If you’re yet to sign up for the event, you can do so here.
