Star Citizen Creator Responds to Feature Creep Accusations

It’s not just a few people thinking the date keeps getting pushed back every time ANOTHER feature is added… it most people. Does anybody play this? I would love o try it but i remember it was $40 or something to get into the ALPHA!!! maybe things have changed…

Star Citizen creator Chris Roberts has responded to accusations that the game is “feature creep.” Some critics have accused Star Citizen of attempting to add too many features too quickly at the expense of quality. Roberts replies: “There are people out there who are going to tell you that… it’s ‘feature creep’ and we should make a smaller, less progressive game for the sake of having it out more quickly or in order to meet artificial deadlines.”

“Now I’ll answer those claims in one word: Bull****!” Chris Roberts’ response comes a few weeks after Star Citizen’s first person shooter module was delayed. “Is Star Citizen today a bigger goal than I imagined in 2012? Absolutely,” Roberts continues. “Is that a bad thing? Absolutely not: it’s the whole damn point… Is ‘feature creep’ a worry? Sure… it’s always a worry, and we are well aware of it. However, building the game to the stretch goals embraces and endorsed by the community is not feature creep!” The decision was made to stop creating new stretch goals at the end of last year “for the better of the game.” Regardless, the crowdfunding total so far is over $85 million, and Star Citizen remains the most backed crowdfunding project ever.

“…going beyond our limitations is the entire point of Star Citizen,” says Roberts. “Arena Commander, which is still evolving, is a better looking and playing game than a lot of finished games out there. We are maintaining a live game and building one all at the same time.” Roberts concludes by saying “while I can’t promise you everything will always go smoothly or features or content won’t arrive later than we want them to, I can promise that we will never stop until we have achieved this dream.”

I don’t know much about this game. I do know that if your criticism of them isn’t constructive they fly off the handle. They have already refunded one person money for a blog post he wrote about the game.

I remember another MMO that was supposed to be the greatest thing since sliced bread, Wildstar. Look at how bad that turned out. All it was a pathetic WoW clone with silly player housing. People bailed after a month. Sounds like Star Citizen is going that same route.

well Star Citizen isnt an MMO… but its taking WAY TOO FUCKING LONG!!! announced 3 years ago… people kickstarted this game 3 years ago… their rigs are prolly obsolete by now.

I’d call it an mmo since you’ll be able to interact with a ton of other players. Not a mmorpg, but a mmofps. I referenced Wildstar because that was another title that promised the world. And it completely failed.

And it’s silly to Kickstart vaperware games.

yeah i still dont understand how this game is supposed to work… people refer to EVE Online but then other say its nothing like EVE…
