Does anyone have this or have used it? I’m interested in playing my PC games on my 60" Samsung LCD TV occasionally. Everything I read is mostly positive about Steam Link. My main concern is non-steam games. Will I be able to play those? For instance, The Division. This was purchased via 3rd party and activated on Uplay. Would I be able to play that game on my TV via Steam Link?
yeah pretty sure you can but you need to add the game into your steam library in order to do it. Other wise its like streaming the xbox console to your PC.
So does the Steam Controller connect to the Steam Link device or to your PC? And is it wireless? I read that the Xbox One wireless controller would need to be hardwired to Steam Link because the MS wireless adapter is not compatible with Steam Link. This is what’s pushing me away from buying the Steam Link at the moment. I would want to use my Xbox One controller wirelessly. I really don’t want to spend $50 on the Steam controller when I already have two XB1 controllers that work great with my PC games.
Thanks guys. Trying to device if this is something I want to try out.
The Steam Controller is wireless, and interfaces with the Link when connected to it. Not sure about the XB1 controller and whether that has to be wired or not, I haven’t gone that far in testing.
Everything I’m reading online says that the MS Xbox wireless adapter does not work with Steam Link. That’s unfortunate. I’m still going to order the Steam Link to give it a try. If I get smooth 1080p FPS to my TV with very little delay, and have to use a wired Xbox One controller, I think I’ll be more than happy. We shall see!!!
And who knows, maybe the MS adapter will eventually work with Steam Link some day.
I caved and bought the combo link/controller pack during the summer sale. Valve apparently takes forever for it to ship so hopefully I will have it by Christmas.
The controller from what I read takes some time to get used to but once you do people have been happy with it.
I did end up buying and and then returning it. The picture from to the PC to TV just wasn’t good enough for me. I’d rather sit at my PC and use the monitors.
