Titanfall 2 to Release Between October and December This Year

AAAAALLLLLLL ABOARD!!!

Titanfall 2 will release between October and December, Electronic Arts has confirmed in the slides for its latest financial presentation.

This release window could put the shooter in direct competition with this year’s Call of Duty and EA’s own, Battlefield 1. With Infinite Warfare, Modern Warfare Remastered, Battlefield 1 and now Titanfall 2 all releasing this year, could the first person shooter market be getting a little too crowded?

A more precise release date has yet to be announced but we do know that the game will be unveiled on June 12 at E3 2016 during Electronic Art’s press conference

Many thought this was a strange decision, but EA CEO Andrew Wilson clarified a few things during an investor call.

“[Shooters are] a giant category in our industry, $4.5 billion category, there’s a very broad and diverse set of players who are looking to fulfill different gameplay motivations”

“Some people play very quick play, some people play more strategic, some people want both in different context. The result of that is that we feel we have a really strong position to deliver the broader set of gameplay mechanics as it relates to the first-person shooter genre across two titles. I feel very confident that we are well positioned to do very well in that category in the year.”

Speaking about Titanfall 2 itself, CFO Blake Jorgensen said that it has “evolved substantially” from the first game, and that EA is confident that it will outsell the original. Titanfall 2 will be releasing on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC unlike the first game that only saw a release on Xbox One and PC. So it’s a realistic goal to say that Titanfall 2 will outsell the original.
