A free update is in the works for Respawn Entertainment’s shooter Titanfall 2, introducing a new close quarters game mode called Live Fire and an overhaul to the playlist interface.
Titanfall 2’s new Live Fire 6v6 game type is a fast-paced Pilot only elimination mode with five rounds lasting just a minute each. There are no respawns, and the round is over when one team completely wipes out their opponents. Victory can also go to the team holding a neutral flag when the timer runs out.
Two new maps - Stacks and Meadow - will be added to Titanfall 2 for the Live Fire game type only. Respawn describes them as “tight, enclosed death boxes designed specifically for the fast-paced, intense nature of the mode”. A new Coliseum map called Columns will also be added, along with a new Pilot execution and some new Faction Commander intros.
Respawn has listened to feedback from Titanfall 2 players who dislike having game types split between two screens in the current playlist interface. They are working on improving the interface in time for the next update, with the goal of making it possible for players to create personalised “mixtapes” so they are matched in whatever range of game modes the player has selected.
The release date for the next Titanfall 2 update has not yet been confirmed, but it will be free for all players.
