Tricks Get Easier With A New Steep Patch

For those of you that may have been having trouble pulling off awesome tricks in Steep, the open world extreme sport simulator, there is some good news in a recent patch that was released.

Alongside a selection of PC fixes (which I will not dive into here), one major change affecting all platforms are improvements to the trick system.

Namely, you can now ‘wind up’ your next trick whilst barreling towards the next ramp, and more easily combine tricks mid-air. This should make the trick system, which at times could feel clunky, a bit more fluid for those used to other snowboarding games that have released in recent years.

The full details in the developer’s own words are provided below:

Tricks Improvements [All Platforms]
If you ever struggled to perform tricks on skis or snowboard, this should definitely make things easier for you!

From now on, you can pre-select your next rotation before releasing your jump. Just push the left stick forward toward a specific direction, release your jump and your rotation will instantly be triggered.

Also, you can now combine turns and rotations more smoothly. Try to trigger tricks as you turn or switch and you’ll really feel the difference!

If you still appreciate calculating timing and using additional stick inputs, don’t worry, nothing has changed for you.

We hope you’ll enjoy these tricks improvements and look forward to hearing your feedback soon.

Steep is currently out now on Xbox One.

So the last patch made tricks harder and this patch makes them easier. They probably should make up their mind.
