Today’s Ubisoft Forward digital event gave us a whole lot of new info on Immortals Fenyx Rising, a brand-new shiny trailer, and a 101 trailer from the dev team.
The world of Immortals Fenyx Rising looks utterly stunning, and Ubisoft says you’ll be able to explore it all straight away. It’s split into multiple regions, each governed by a different god, such as the plains of Aphrodite and the Forge Lands of Hephaestus. Fenyx, the player-character, will be completely customisable, and we get a glimpse of how this will work as Fenyx adjusts the appearance of their head, eyes, hair, and their voice in Aphrodite’s Beauty Chair.
In Immortals, you are a demigod shipwrecked on the Golden Isle. You’ll meet Hermes, one of the few gods left, who tells you that you’re destined to save the gods and their realm from Typhon, a massive Titan, while Zeus and Prometheus narrate in the background. The game’s a massive mix of action, adventure, open-world exploration, puzzles, and more. Typhon’s unleashed a vast army of mythological creatures, including the Cyclops, Medusa, and the Minotaur — and was that a dragon? — and has also corrupted heroes like Achilles. To help even the odds a little, you’ll have the wings of Daidalos, the sword of Achilles, the bow of Odysseus, and more legendary abilities to help you save the gods.
Game director Scott Phillips mentioned the name change from Gods & Monsters to Immortals Fenyx Rising, saying they’ve been able to “expand our vision and explore new opportunities,” and that the change helps to reflect this “new experience.” The devs detail the game further, touching on the “light-hearted and stylised” tone of Immortals.
Lastly, Ubisoft confirmed that all-important detail: Immortals Fenyx Rising launches on December 3rd.
