Owners of GTA 5 can unlock a Golden Gun in Red Dead Redemption 2.
Don’t worry if, like me, you’ve fallen way off the GTA Online bandwagon. Despite arriving days after The Doomsday Heist, the mission to unlock the Double-Action Revolver is self-contained and you won’t need to drop any extra GTA$ to access it; just log in to the game and play for a few minutes until you get a mysterious in-game email from one vanderlinde@eyefind.com. Yes, as in Dutch van der Linde, the primary villain of the original Red Dead Redemption and a major character in its sequel. Or prequel, whatever.
Opening the email will reveal a photograph and add a highlighted area to your map. Head to the area and find the subject of the photo to uncover the first clue, which should be a written message of some kind (it varies from player to player). This will kick off three more clue hunts, ultimately leading you to a box containing the fancy old six-shooter. If you’re ever struggling to find a clue in the highlighted region, just listen for the sound of bells chiming - they’ll become louder as you get closer. Thanks to Reddit user Doylio for the tips.
Now your GTA Online character has the gun, but your work isn’t quite done yet. You’ll need to land 50 headshots with it to earn a GTA$250,000 prize and, more importantly, unlock it for future use in Red Dead Redemption 2 via your Rockstar Social Club account. These can be headshots on anybody, player or NPC, so it shouldn’t take too long to get done.
