World of Tanks Introduces Console Exclusive Campaign Mode War Stories

Adds new story-driven gameplay with two campaigns, co-op and new achievements

It’s going to be a historic moment for developer Wargaming.net and the dedicated and passionate fans still fighting the good fight in the Xbox 360 and Xbox One versions of World of Tanks. The team has announced that for the first time in World of Tanks history, the console versions of the game will be receiving their first-ever campaign mode that will offer a PvE experience where players can ride solo or in co-op in “War Stories”.

TJ Wagner, creative director and executive producer at Wargaming, is ready for the next step:

War Stories is the next evolution for our brand. As the first campaign series in the World of Tanks universe, War Stories allows us to bring a new narrative to the game and expand on our multiplayer experience with engaging single-player and online Coop content for our new and longtime tankers.

The new War Stories update will include two campaigns, each with three chapters that will see players visiting different battlefields that will be both historic and imagined. The first campaign is called “Brothers In Armor” will see the Red Army soldiers fighting on the Eastern Front. From within the seat of a Western Sherman tank, this campaign will serve as a tutorial for new players and covers the basics such as movement, scouting, sniping, and more.

The second campaign “Flashpoint Berlin” follows the story of a British soldier who is on a mission to get through a Cold War-era Berlin blockade. No more details have been released for the second campaign but we do know that a couple more stories are in the works. One will tell the story of an Axis invasion of Great Britain, and the other will follow a “fight for the fate of humanity on the brink of nuclear war in an alternate ending of the Cuban Missile Crisis”.

The War Stories will be presented in the form of animated comic strips thanks to comic writer Andi Ewington and also with artwork from PJ Holden and Matt Timson. A brand new score will grace your ears courtesy of three time BAFTA nominee Inon Zur.

The new War Stories update will be playable on the Xbox 360, Xbox One, Xbox One S and the upcoming Xbox One X. New achievements will be available to unlock and no matter which Xbox you will be playing the new update on, gamers will be able to utilise cross platform capability which also includes voice team chat across the different Xbox consoles.

The newly released screens all focus on the “Flashpoint Berlin” campaign and highlight the cold and treacherous terrain, the monstrous tanks, and the explosive action that’s set to come:

War Stories goes live for World of Tanks on August 22nd.
