The Guardians
Like on the first Destiny, we’ll be able to choose between a Hunter, Warlock or a Titan, all having additional new subclasses with new specials:
- The Warlock’s Dawnblade which was mostly showcased during the stream, it can use its fire sword and shoot energy from mid-air
The Titan’s Sentinel gets a (MARVELlous) shield to throw around
The Hunter’s Arcstrider allows him to summon a staff to hit things with (think Rogue One’s Chirrut).
According to PGGamesN, the only classes available on the showcase that took place after the gameplay premiere were (with the respective skills):
The Hunter Gunslinger:
[details=Summary]Grenades:
Incendiary: an explosive grenade that sets enemies on fire, causing additional damage to them.
Swarm: detonates on impact, releasing multiple drones that seek nearby enemies
Tripmine: explosive grenade that sticks to surfaces and detonates when enemies pass through its laser trigger
Dodges:
Marksman’s dodge: reloads the weapon while dodging
Gambler’s dodge: when dodging with enemies nearby, melee energy is generated
Jumps:
High Jump: upgrades Double Jump for even greater height.
Triple Jump: Upgrades Double Jump with a third jump.
Strafe (previously called better control): Upgrades Double Jump for better directional control while in the air.
Its special ability is the Golden Gun: a hand cannon that only allows for three shots, but deals tremendous damage to enemies.
The passive abilities for the Gunslinger are:
Explosive knife: the throwing knife explodes shortly after hitting enemies (requires melee energy to be full)
Chain of Woe: Precision kills increase weapon reload speed. Stacks up to 3 times.
Bombs for Bullseyes: precision shots give grenade energy
Six-shooter: Gives 6 bullets to the Golden Gun but reduces its duration
Gunslinger’s trance: Apparently the same as Destiny (precision kills increase weapon stability. Stacks up to 3 times) but also decreases the golden gun cooldown.
Knife-juggler: Same as Destiny (precision kills with Throwing Knife immediately resets its cooldown) but requires melee energy to be full
Line 'em up - Increases Golden Gun’s damage and duration for each Golden Gun precision hit.
Crowd-Pleaser - Gives your allies Orbs of Light on Golden Gun precision hits[/details]
The Titan Striker:
[details=Summary]Grenades:
Flashbang: explosive grenade that disorients the enemies it damages
Pulse: periodically damages enemies inside its explosive radius
Lightning: sticks to any surface, periodically emitting bolts of lightning
Barriers:
Towering Barricade: a barrier that protects an area for a short time
Rally Barricade: a smaller barrier that reloads your weapon when the player takes cover behind it
Jumps:
Lift (main ability): Jump and press again while in the air to activate Lift
Increased Height: Upgrades Lift to travel to greater heights.
Increased Control: Upgrades Lift for better directional control while in the air
Catapult: Upgrades Lift to provide a strong initial burst of momentum
Its special ability is the Fist of Havoc: a close-range attack that allows one to “smash the ground and dissolve nearby enemies in a maelstrom of Arc Light.”
The passive abilities for the Striker are:
Shoulder Charge: after sprinting for a short time, unleash a devastating melee attack
Aftermath: same as Destiny (Fist of Havoc leaves a damage-dealing field in its wake) but also disorientates enemies on its wake
Magnitude: increases the duration of the Pulse Grenade, Lightning Grenade, and Aftermath
Aerial Strike: makes Fist of Havoc deal more damage the longer the player is in the air
Reversal: kills with Storm Fist or Shoulder Charge immediately trigger health regeneration
Frontal Assault: a strong punch that increases weapon stability
Trample: makes Fist of Havoc last longer if the player sprints and extends it on Fist of Havoc kills
Knockout: makes so that the melee range is higher after breaking enemies shields[/details]
The Warlock Dawnblade (based on Destiny’s Warlock Sunsinger):
[details=Summary]Grenades:
Solar: creates a flare of Solar Light which continually damages enemies trapped inside
Firebolt: unleashes bolts of Solar Light at nearby enemies
Fusion: causes bonus damage when attached to its target
Jumps:
Balanced Glide
Focused Burst: upgrades Glide to provide an initial burst of speed
Controlled Glide: upgrades Glide for better directional control while in mid-air
Rifts (Bubbles):
Healing Rift: generates a rift that heals those inside of it
Empowering Rift: instead of healing, it increases the attack power of those inside
Its special ability is called Daybreak that, as explained above can use its fire sword and shoot energy from mid-air.
The passive abilities for the Dawnblade are:
Igniting Touch: like Destiny’s Scorch (a powerful melee attack that ignites enemies, causing damage over time), but the melee attack also causes enemies to explode
Phoenix Dive: makes the player descend from mid-air and regenerates health
Skyfire: causes explosive damage after landing while on Daybreak
Risen Angel: in mid-air, the player can aim their weapon to hover in space for a short time, Risen Angel’s duration is extended with precision damage
Wild Fire: allows to fire weapons and use grenades while gliding
Firestarter: melee that also increases the movement and reload speed
Blazing Dash: allows for dodging in mid-air
Everlasting Flames: increases the Daybreak duration with enemy kills
All passive abilities are separated into groups for which there is not yet an official confirmation of how they are, what they are called and if they are final.[/details]
The World(s):
Also shown on the stream were four new areas. Titan, a moon of Saturn, IO and European Dead Zone (on Earth). These areas will be directly accessible without having to go to orbit or any kind of world hub.
[details=Summary]The European Dead Zone (EDZ) is the largest area and the new base for humans. The Vanguard base for Destiny 2 is set here.
Titan is based on the real moon of Saturn of the same name, with seas of liquid methane and without much land, the Titan Vanguard Commander Zavala has moved here to recover from the initial attack on Earth.
Nessus is a small planet that is between Uranus and Neptune, it also orbits the sun and it is overtaken by the Vex, industrialising most of the area. The Hunter Vanguard Clayde-6 should be found here since he got stuck on a portal on Nessus.
Io is the moon closest to Jupiter and is also based on a real moon. After the attack on Earth, the Warlock Vanguard came to Io. It is also known that it was the last place that the Traveller is known to have touched.[/details]
World activities:
- Patrols (free-roaming with the eventual ambient encounter), materials and chests will still be available in these areas. Public events will also have new heroic objectives and there will be treasure maps available for treasure hunting in the world,
- Lost Sectors: small dungeons with locked chests where the player will have to defeat a boss to get the key for those chests) to discover around.
- Side-missions (also called adventures) will be available and obtainable from local NPCs.
- There is also a new improved map to better identify where and when public events take place

Level Cap:
According to the gameplay stream, Destiny 2 will take us back to the level 20 cap (same as the base game of Destiny), with a maximum light level of 260. The level cap is not officially announced but on the gameplay demo, the most powerful and NPCs were on level 20, and usually, NPCs on main cities are the maximum possible level or higher even. During the event, some sneak peeks at the inventory system proving the maximum level and light cap were shown, confirming the information.
Weapon slots:
Instead of Destiny’s structure with primary weapon, secondary weapon and special weapon slots, Destiny 2 will have slots for Kinetic weapons (bullet firing pistols + pulse and auto rifles), Energy weapons (Energy firing weapons with an elemetal charge like submachine guns, Hand canons and Pulse rifles) and Power weapons (Sniper and Fusion Rifles, the new grenade launchers, rocket launchers and machine guns).
Clan system:
During the stream it was announced that Destiny 2 will have official support for clans, allowing for clan banners, invitations, clan levelling and guild specific rewards. Right now, players can create and join clans here.
Guided gaming for high-level content:
Casual players or players that don’t have enough friends to create a clan will be able to access guided games, a new matchmaking\looking for group functionality that joins players with clans looking for someone to join them. According to Steve Cotton, the world designer of Destiny 2, normal strikes will not have guided games support and according to the twitch stream Nightfall activities, Trials or Raids will support guided games.
The Strikes:
So far, Inverted Spire is the only known strike and it was made available to play on the post-stream event. The Inverted Spire takes place in Nessus and players will have to fight waves of Vex and Cabal together and put to test their platform skills. The final boss is Protheon, a three stage boss, fanatics (seen in Destiny’s vault of glass) will also be present in the boss fight. It is confirmed that the Nightfall (a strike with unique modifiers that is different every week) will also be in Destiny 2.
##Flashpoints
The Flashpoint is basically like a featured destination, a featured location. There’s a whole class of stuff that shows up when it’s the Flashpoint. Treasure maps to go find, special monsters that show up. We wanted with Flashpoints to have an opportunity each week to focus players on a single location where they can just go solo, hang out, and then get a super powerful reward from it—like the equivalent of an unknown reward from Nightfall.
Raids
It was confirmed that the Destiny 2 base game will have a Raid, but no more information was provided
The PVP:
The Crucible will now support 4vs4 matches on all modes instead of Destiny’s 6vs6. The HUD will also show if other players have their Super (ability) ready and if they have ammo for their power weapon.
Power ammo will no longer be shared on pick-up and revives will be limited to however many tokens a player has.
New mode: Countdown
Countdown is an attack/defend mode (like Search and Destroy) where teams have to plant a bomb on the enemy base and defend it, having, switching sides and roles on the end of the round. Each round is one point and the score limit is six points.
The Maps
Midtown: A part of the last city that was abandoned after the attack due to not being of tactical importance. This was the only map showcased and playable on the day of the event.
The expansions:
The Expansion Pass on the official destiny pre-order page explains that the game will have two expansions, with new story new story missions, cooperative activities, competitive multiplayer, and a wealth of new weapons, armour, and gear. A closer look at the expansion pass pre-order page shows the logos on the expansion belonging to the Osiris Faction and the Rasputin logo, suggesting the thematics of the expansions.
The Performance
Bungie has confirmed that on consoles, the game will run at 30FPS, being that the PS4 Pro will also do 4K at the same 30FPS. Project lead David Shaw did not comment on the performance on the Scorpio saying “he can’t talk about Destiny 2 on Xbox One, in particular, Project Scorpio and what advantages it brings over the console until Microsoft’s E3 2017 press conference where they’ll share more details”.
